There are a lot of good options out there if you want a personal site. If you want an easy to use and affordable website builder with hosting built in, try Squarespace. If you know a little about web, try a free account on freehostia.com, you can install and customize a joomla template on there. Just some ideas for a QD (Quick & Dirty) portfolio site.

i use yahoo webhosting and created my own URL. www.as-designs.org it cost around 8 dollars a month, but the site name is even personalized to your needs.
