    Another Question

I am seeing all these cool and neat logo's! I have never done anything like them Would any one be willing to either give me a tutorial if you know of one or tell me where to start? Should i do vector art (which i have never tried yet before) Should i practice my drawing? Also any tips on learning how to express and find my own style and be able to draw it on paper or on the computer (yes i do have a tablet i need to actually use it though i am not use to it yet)

Learn how to use the Pen tool in Illustrator. By far it is the tool I use more than anything. Look up some videos on youtube about the pen tool. If you used it in photoshop its basically the same thing. But it has a more powerfull vector platform behind it which is Illustrator. Other than that learn about brush patterns, art brush, blends and gradients etc.. there is so much it will do and your text will look 100% better if made in Illustrator. Some of my favorite tools are the pathfinder and the Appearance tool. I could write 20 more paragraphs on Illustrator but I won't. Just let you know I fell in love with illustrator the first time I used it and keep on the more I find new and exciting things it can do.

    yep, what he said^^^

I'd first research, then use pen/pencil, paper, THEN use illustrator, and further define your logo. (shapes can be key to, I often experiment with simple shapes, circles, squares, and tweak)

The Bezier/pen tool is VERY important, I'd learn how to use... if you google illustrator tutorials, you'll find plenty to keep you busy
Adobe classroom in a book series is also awesome.

A most important thing to know when creating a logo is your DESIGN PROCESS. This is where you start conjuring up design briefs, ideas, sketches and the finished product. You may check out my logo design process at www.logosbyblue.com or you may search google for some tutorials on starting your own design brief. Hope these help.

All good suggestions above. Other great tools in Illustrator are the Pathfinder tool (mentioned above) for combining/creating different shapes, the gradient mesh tool (for creating much more realistic shading), the Warp feature, Extrude & Bevel (for creating 3D objects), and using Opacity Masks.

Tutorials abound all over the web for these tools, so I won't explain them, but they are under-rated features in Illustrator!

I think the pen tool is much easier to use in Illustrator. The only way to really learn is to do... so get to it.

There is some great advice on this thread - Good luck!

    Hey,
If you're serious about design, don't bother with software at all yet. Learn about logo design first. I mean what design means, the actual process. Learn the basics of graphic design, the elements and principles. Read case studies by Landor, The Leaf Design, Saffron etc. (google these) to know how real designers work. Then maybe start working on stuff.
