It's my goal to increase my local client base this year. (I have an extensive nation and international clientele, but few local to me.)

Be sure to search seminars and different events where you can do some networking and always carry around some businesscards.

For designers I think places where are allot of starting companies will be a good place to network, because mostly those companies that are just starting up haven't yet have designs or not yet have a good one because they have them made cheap or free by a friend.

I have indeed joined a few local entrepreneur groups as well as planning to look into local chanbers of commerse. Meetup is helping in that area as well!
