    Anyone else like ambigrams?

I like trying to design ambigrams (a word that reads the same backwards/forwards or upsidedown) I think it takes a massive amount of effort and creativity to make a good, readable ambigram. I have seen so many that are so illegible that they shouldn't count.

Anyone else tried designing an ambigram?

Here's one I made of Hawaii:

We should have a open ambigram design contest.

Ambigrams are fun however not most are very readable to be perfect. Actually was pretty hard to read that is was spelling hawaii on both.

Was more reading HeNNeii then hawaii on both. Also it doesn't work on every name or text. You just have to be lucky enough to find names that really could handle them and still be readable.

I find most words don't work for developing ambigrams. It's also interesting that some people see the words easily and some don't. You have to ask a lot of people if they can read it. If most can't then you have to keep working.

Hey nagfa, my favorites from your blog are: Dailyplanet, Swordsmith, and Jamesblunt. They are some of the best ones I've seen.

Kudos to you all for taking ambigrams on! I tried my hand once or twice at them... with only mediocre results.

    So impressed!
    Blessings,

I totally love ambigrams! I've never come up with a real winner yet. Any tips or advice on the process of making an ambigram? What I've done is try to start in the middle and work my way both ways...

The most readable one gotta be Dailyplanet. Bot most I can't read it directly without even knowing what it says.

I think people have problems creating ambigrams because they are using the wrong words. Not every word or set of words can be made into a good ambigram. Don't constrain yourself to a specific word or phrase.

Also, really study typography, which letters can be inverted to become other letters, what makes something readable, etc. As you get better with the shapes of letters you will start seeing more options.

But the most important thing to realize is that there is no formula that will make a good ambigram. Only time, refinement, and creativity can do that.

Here is an Ambigram logo I made. Particularly because it is made for cycling company that have allot or rotating parts and would be good to even read it upside down. Also just perfect word to become an ambigram. You really have the perfect word to make an ambigram so it is perfect and readable.

i've only tried ambigram design a few times. Here was my best attempt:

I suggest reading John Langdon's wordplay and visiting his site. Guy is a genius when it comes to ambigrams.

They are really cool and interesting if they are good. If they are even a little weak the entire thing looks bad. I tried it 2 or 3 times on different projects. I don't have the patients for it. My ADHD kicks in and I get a migraine. I envy people who can do them very well

Dan Brown did blow open the doors to a whole new form of art for me too. Have you been able make one similar to the diamond from Angels and Demons ? Takes my breadth away , just to look at it .

I do not understand the mechanism of this blog, I try to send my three versions, so inexplicable are duplicated and then I can not because it inhibits me and this message appears: You have pictures Reached maximum limit for this gallery, so you can not send more pictures. How I can send my participation?
