2 words - ugly. Oh, yea, one actually..
But how it look's on tv and on the bright background, it's a nightmare in comparison with the old one.
ps. AP one of my favorite channels.

I don't get what they are trying to do with the sideways M, an open animal mouth...it doesn't work. The I and M almost look like a giant B in the middle of the word. This is an example of an idea not having any foundation or connection. The arrangement of fonts is fun and looks contemporary and interesting but what is the point?
i ill miss the elefant
Ugh. What a nightmare. Im a TA in a Typography class this semester and this one is definitely coming with me to class on Monday as an example of what NOT to do!
Have been a while though that is was introduces so it is not that new anymore. It got a bit of jungle look but I find it too hard to understand why they place the M that way. But mostly the green is only thing connecting it to jungle. Seem to be fairly easy made though I doubt this is a own made font mostly edited from a existing font. There are more fonts that show more jungle then this. Most Zoo's got better logo than this.

Its unfortunate that such a wonderful network is represented by such a poor design. I am reminded and humbled by the prospect of good intentions gone wrong and even how good designers have bads days (thinking of Walcom). It appears the intent was to emphasize the syllables within the word animal - similar to how "Animal" on the Muppets pronounced his own name: Ani-Mal.
Well i read (don't remember where exactly) that this "logo" will be used only in Europe ;/
The best design decisions are simple, because they don't contain elements that are not necessary... and contain the necessary elements in a way that looks logical...
They have changed it a bit, adding acid green look. Well, although it still sucks now atleast it's not geting lost on a bright backgrounds

I personally like the old logo
Scary!!! I def like the old logo. If they had to change it, especially to this, they cud have atleast left the letter A to a normal size. It cud have been a little more bearable!!!
I don't think im gona watch animal planet ever again![]()
shocking, they have lost the device that makes the logo adaptable and changable and also allowed interaction
Prefer the old one but that could just be because Im comfortable with it. Anybody know what the reasons are for the change?
Reasons are trivial -- new look, aimed at a wider audience.

I remember when I saw it the first time. I thought to myself, "Someone is having a good laugh at this practical joke."
The laughter stopped when I saw it again a month later.
It's a trememdous blow to the professionalism the old logo had. IMHO, this was a disappointing and unnecessary change that I feel will hurt their branding in the future.
Good web design is all about the user. Without them, we wouldn't be here.
are you serious? is this some kind of prank?
so unfair that the artist probably got paid good money for that logo
----> Winter's Blogspot!! <----
I love Animal Planet (except the depressing save the animal commercials) But I don't like both of these logos. The elephant one is cleaner and nicer looking but boring. The new one tried to make things more interesting but I'm not quite sure what happened after that. Well Congratulations Animal Planet It's look uhh... interesting... maybe third times a charm.
i am always in favor of pure logotypes without any icon but this one blows.
