I doesn't matter what program you use just that you are able to design something that would impress others. I rather have a crew running AI cause of full compatebility, while annoying Coreldraw users often save file in CDR making it impossible to open for other who don't have Coreldraw.

    praising Illustration

I use to design with Coreldraw but after finding CS3 Illustrator I forgot the Corel. Illustrator for me is in so many ways more simple and comfortable to use. Of course it depends, but try, so you will make your own decision.

Try designing some packaging and send it to a printer. They'll respond by asking for the file as an Illustrator .ai or .eps.
