Front Door Design

Front Door design - why is it so over looked? It's the first piece of individualised furniture seen in your home, so why hasn't anyone redesigned them yet? Where's the choice, the development, the styling? The closest we get to modern front doors are the mock wood grain GRP composites, all shiny and naff. I love traditional wood panelled Georgian doors, solid and heavy - layers of paint and beautiful detailing, but I can't deny that they're drafty and not very secure.
Has anyone got any comments about doors? Or know any innovative companies that I've over looked?

DoorLady - Take a look at the Affinity Doors website - www.affinitydoors.com. This company has been making custom, one-of-a-kind doors for several years, including the Georgian style doors you were mentioning, I think. It also looks like they use all types of wood, iron and glass for their doors.
