Designing with Type: The Essential Guide to Typography

Well I've been brushing up (still LOL) and figured I'd see what books I still hade from when I attended Design school... many years ago.

I was specificly looking for one book. My typography book and what do you know I found it along with a few drawings I had. One of my assignments was to draw the letter A in caps and lower form to fill a page for each letter without using any sort of straight edge. I was told I was the first to get all the angles exactly the same as what was in the book. after that we had to ink it.
but anyway back to the title. the book is called "Designing with Type" started reading it last night and wondered if anyone else had read it. I have the 3rd revision, but will probably go to the library for the most recent.

a link to the site w/ a pick of the book. only thing that's changed on the cover is the number 3 to a 5. Designing with Type: Devoted to the Art and Appreciation of Typography

I'd like to hear of your opinion if you've read it along with other typography books that have helped you along.

I have that book too! Mines #3. I got it at a Half Price books. I haven't seen the new edition. I wonder if they still do hand type for projects? It's really helpful for when you "create" type or logos in Illustrator to know about alignment and descenders and ascenders and round bellies dropping below the baseline. Plus I love the colors of the cover. And, of course, Helvetica.
