You can get ideas by Googling it, or searching on deviantART... You don't need any special software for making die-cuts, you normally just have to add an extra layer defining the shape of the cut, preferably in Illustrator or some other vector software. Ask your printer how they accept die-cutting templates.
i use corel draw it seems to be the best, but there is only one problem when i try to make a specific radius (curve) with specific angel, some ppl said that only autocad can do this, and about deviant art, they dont have nothing new or maybe profissional, what i am trying to say is what is beyond the basics, coz die cutting is a science, where i can learn the advanced die cutting
try to use illustrator and forget about corel; I was allways having problems with corel; it crushes at some levels of effects
i also use illustrator, but corel is handy when it comes to basic shapes and simple designs, it crashes alot, but it also save a backup for files and the cdr file is a few kilobits, try coreldraw x4, i am useing it for couple of monthes and it didnt crash yet
There are a lot of good examples of professional looking die-cuts on dA, just have a look at some of these (i know there are a lot of bad ones as well, but you just have to ignore them)
Browsing deviantART
As for 'advanced' die cutting, I don't think there's such a thing unless you want to make the die yourself. I'm assuming from your comments you want to learn how to create more precise cut shapes in your current vector software, which is definitely better done in software such as AutoCAD which are made for this specific purpose. You can just do those things in autocad and import them to illustrator or coreldraw if you wish.
Thanx, this is what i wanted to say, but is there any specific program other than autocad
ArtiosCAD is one program plus you have a certain plug ins for Illustrator that can change lines into cutting lines. But I advice you to use Illustrator and the plugin for it cause you can draw much cleaner and better with Illustrator.
