Inspiring Music for design

Well, it depends on how concentrated I need to be at the moment ... If I am working on some deep-thinking application such as complex logo, corporate identity, slogans, ad campaign or any project that requieres deep concentration then I prefer instrumental or classical music ... Specially Vivaldi - I love to enjoy "four seasons" .. never is too much listining to it, also piano music or sax is nice to me.
On the other hand, if it comes to a more just shaping, painting, sketching or just messing around with a pencil on paper or a mouse on the pad .. :-P then evanescence, creed, linking park, alanis morrissette, blink182 ... :-) is nice to me ... and of course salsa and latin music is on the go ... Marc Anthony, Juanes, La Ley, Sin Banderas, Amigos Invisibles, Franco de Vita ...

Some good old desert music...an instrumental stoner/sludge rock band called Yawning Man pretty much works for me to relax, concentrate and keeps me focused on my work

Today I wanna know: What's your most favourite Music while you are designing? Not only "What you're listening right now" but a bit more deeper.

I prefer Music of films, like
The Passion of the Christ Soundtrack by John Debney
Music of "The Crow"
Gladiator Soundtrack
it makes me feel uplifting

on the other hand I like alternative much
f.e. Dallas Green, William Fitzsimmons.

House Music and Schiller (Chillout/Trance)

I pefer Techno like infected mushroom or grendel

BEst way to work effectively on project , is to get into it's atmosphere, feel what is like. Listening of all kind of quality music is better way off that. The different mind condition requires different music. Thats what i do. I like House and Electronic make me feel free of anything and think colorful. Hip Hop is creative way to think smart words with deep meaning. Classics from soft forms slowly changing direction to avangard but pure design.

I like listening to electronic music like Air and BT. Also Coldplay is another band that gets my creative juices flowing.

I had an after thought. You guys should check out Pandora.com. You put in an artist or song that you like and it will find similar music to match whatever you put in. I'm actually doing it now with artist that other members suggested lol.

hmmm... really depends... I go from Kurt Elling (jazz vocalese) to Brian Eno to The Secret Machines to DJ Shadow and U2... lol... i said it depends...

when im not sure what i want to listen to, its usually some sort of Ambient music

Any music with a nice flow to it. Sound Tribe is one of my favorites. I even listen to hip-hop sometimes.

hmmm ... yah ... depends ... tho ... most often, i listen to rock ... but then there are those times, i listen to really mushy songs ... and then, there are those times i listen to Disney Theme Songs ... and then ... and then ... blah blah blah =D

Just jumping in to mention, I LOVE listening to movie scores while I design--the Gladiator one is definitely great. There's also a good group called E.S. Posthumus that composes really cool orchestra/electronica-esque music. One of their songs was used on the Sherlock Holmes trailer

I might be weird, but when it comes to design I choose one song from my library, which is much too large, that I feel really could be used to describe the project, and then I listen to that one song on repeat until the project is finished, unless that song just isn't getting my what I want then I switch songs, but I don't think I've ever had to switch songs twice.... hmmm....
But, then for my art, I put my library on random, since I listen to a mix of conscious hip hop as well as club hip hop, its always somewhat of a strange mix... although just realizing that most people don't know that hip hop had sub categories.... either way for art I like to gain many different songs while for design I focus on just one.

Music has a secret Mojo with the design, it bring you to a new world full of passion and inspiration, even the lyrics show u things you never thought about it.. it works But for some kind of music the way in your design would go different, Like if you listen to Slow, Country, or Techno, you will create a different designs... Slow music gives you peace and relaxes with a famine touches in your design you reach the most sensitive moments at this time. Loud music gives you adventure and new concepts... However that my own opinion.
