I like the old Goodwrench logo much more than this new one!
I agree, this logo looks more like a computer icon (Power, Quicktime). I am also not a huge fan of the "Aqua" "bubble" treatment. It seems to be over used on alot of websites, so I would avoid it for a long term logo.
I am with you on this one, the aqua bubble has seen its day.....design is all about clever simplicity, that is using the basic elements to achieve a visual interesting outcome.
It gives them a fresh look. When you go back and look at design and advertising as a whole, what we have been able to do is recycle. I just read a book on 100 years of billboard ads and the first one they reference does not look any different than the last (modern) one they showed, just updated versions.
When I see that at 1st glance I think of Quicktime.
What a great catch . . . it makes you wonder if the guy in charge was reaching for his computer to turn it off and went, whoa, wait a minute . . . lol. I guess, like most corporations, they would see what is popular at the time and latch onto that? Like in commercials, when you see that a certain volkswagon commercial was popular, then all of a sudden, a ton of commercials from completely different products come out just like it.
It is supposed to be a wrench My husband has worked for GM for 25 years, and I also work for them for 5 years. they did change it and I think they should change it back to something looking more like a wrench. But who am I to say.
Everyone is using the 'power button' logo and 5 companies that are using it now. try some thing new to do that

I like the new logo, it gives the impression of a key in an ignition, a "G",and being on. All excellent qualities to convey in a logo for auto parts.![]()
Wow. I didn't even notice Goodwrench's switchover to this design. The updated type is a step in the right direction but I cringe when I look at what is clearly a powerbutton turned sideways.
I like the above concept presented by Concussion. Goodwrench's new logo would have looked a lot better if they had went with a wrench/bolt/nut focus with their new graphic. They are called GoodWRENCH, after all.
