Hi there, hope all is well with you!

I'm sure the other members here will weigh in on this and advise on the best way to got. I would like to give my opinion about printing (not an expert on printing and know almost nothing about that end of the tshirt creation)

    Things one might consider......

print budget..might not be an issue if you are using one of those sell you tshirts type sites.

Type of print y ou want. do you want your shirts screen printed, transfer, digital print. There are several ways to have your shirt printed,
Design placement. Many of the "in" type designs have designs on the sleeves or over the shoulder or at the bottom of the shirt for example.

Effects or special ways you want the design printed. This will also determin how you design your shirt.

Google Do a google search on the site you might be considering. Doing a search you may find out good and bad info about the site, you never know what feed bawill find

One more thing I would like to add is....A printer will only print the shirt as good as the design itself is, kinda like a calculato--a great tool bt only as good as the user, if you enter wrong numbers or don't know how to use it right then the calculator turns into something wortless

Hope some of this helped : )

GAH I CANT TAKE IT ALL IN lol no jk No i kinda want to start simple but i think well i wish there waa a site that did it all lol you know but i think it want digital printing maybe some different effects but if i could get like 2 sites maybe and design for each of those types of printers then that would be fine i just want to find a good digital printer that will accept "religious" stuff threadless is to secular for my designs! but if i could find a site that had 2 different types of printing and or several like threadless and different placement but for any kind of design that would be nice!

    Question.
Are you wanting to sell the shirts to make a profit per shirt? or just to purchase your own and be done with it.
Or are you wanting to sell the design to a site that prints shirts?

Either way you'll need to do a little digging and ask questions.

I googled "Christian based T-shirt" and my results - christian based T-shirt - Google Search

If I were you and wanted to get into this I'd do a little research. find a site that sells a similar looking shirt (as in effects, colors, etc. used) then hit that "contact us" button and ask how you can submit a shirt idea. What type of printing do they do? how do you need the design submited? i.e. color seperations, ai files, psd files, ext.
Just pick their brain a little, from my almost 40 years on this earth I've found that 90% of people will be helpful and will answer just about any question you need an answer two. I've learned more this way than I'd ever in school. If someone doesn't want to help you then they aren't worth the time and move on. I've learned how to start up a business and run it this way. learned ALL about manufacturing products this way as well. Just asked and when I didn't know something it was explained to me.

Sharie wrote some very good advice.

I'd sit down and think of any question you may have. No matter how stupid you think it is, if you don't know it; ask it!

The one and only true way to get into something is to do the homework.

Not alot of poeple here will be into T-shirt designs and the one guy who was and had alot of info - jecrt - hasn't been on in some time.

Then you need to get ready to do alot of work, cause no one will just pop over to your site (or where ever you post it). you'll need to find ways to creat a buzz.

Why not order your own shirt from spreadshirt to see how it looks once it's printed. They let you set up a shirt shop and will assist you in many ways including how to market your "shop".
Also there are sites like Finroo that will give you a percentage for each shirt sold. but they're only looking for images and little to no text.

    good luck

Make sure you know in advance whether the design you create will need to be modified in order to print. T-shirts are easy to design, but more often than not, designs need adjustment, which the screen printer will usually charge you for. The more you can do on your end, the cheaper the production cost will be. That means you'll have to work closely with the screen printer. For that reason, it's nice to work with someone local.

On a similar but off-topic note, remember to keep the best possible documentation of sales/expenditures related to this.

If you get successful enough, you will have to get a business license and process the respective paperwork and everything. Keep the legal side of this in mind as you grow.

tsmith is right on the mark. Keep good records! In the past, I've had to work with some pretty sketchy printers and having good documentation helped me save face when problems came up.

    Hello from tshirtillustrator.com

    Hello peeps!

I've been creating t-shirt designs for the masses non stop for twenty-nine years now

The new Digital Direct has come of age.......

Let me remind you that anyone can own, operate and create a great website..... even my youngest child from his garage apartment.

Many of today's t-shirt websites,,,, ( let's take customink for instance) DO NOT EVEN PRINT THE SHIRTS YOU ORDER!

Most are middle men like yourself! they sell shirts of your design or their own, but do not do the actual production! stop looking for internet solutions.

Zazzle, cafepress, Uber have come from the Transfer market into direct digital...... this is best only for short runs of 1-144 shirts.

Direct digital fades in sunlight & washing, it cannot produce custom inks like glow in the dark, glitter, metallic, puff raised, crystalline, Polychromatic color changing, to name a few.

There are so many knowledgeable & capable small screen printers in every city across America! and prices are competitive. It is best to work closely with a real screen printer. many do embroidery as well and might have a digital printer for small runs! Many have only a 12 piece minimum fro real screen printing and re-runs should cost less if they keep the set-ups on file for you. FIND A LOCAL SCREEN PRINTER!

great art is one thing... great production color separations are the secret to an advanced t-shirt print! you can learn more about the industry on my site www.tshirtillustrator.com or check out the knowledge on the new industry social site here
    www.screen-printer.net

if you want, you can join my site and set up your own Digital direct print on demand store.... for free. shirts cost you starting at $6.50 for a white full color, one placement print.. mark it up as much as you want.. Goods are produced by Colorado Timberline!

:P ... get a simple frame-> pull some silk over it -> stretch well and staple -> trace your design -> mask the remaining with some wood-glue or resin -> (for multicolor use multiple screens) -> place the screen on the shirt and go crazy with some acrylics -> scrape excessive paint off -> done
