If you don't know what a portfolio is you may not be ready.. But it could be a language barrior thing..

A portfolio is like a show case of all your work put into one location.
back in the days before the web, you would print out (in one form or another) the works you have done either in class or for real world clients and put them into a large folder/case type thing and present them to employers or new clients, to show your tallent.. Now days you can post all your work on your website or some sort of image hosting service like divant art, photobucket, flickr and so on.
