No way! It's not wasting time at all Both if you are a novice or an 'expert'. I found myself saying "why the hell have I to follow an illustrator course, I know everything I need" and some days after I found so many instruments I didn't know which were great. I think that one thing which helps you a lot is also partecipating into contests around on the net, you learn really PLENTY of stuff (not to mention the fact that you see many many designs and start to get a 'designer eye').

Hope this could help Have fun

    learning graphics

Be sure to learn about vector art. Any learning and practice helps but to be practical you need to learn Adobe Illustrator (or Corel if you prefer) along with all the pixel based programs if you are going to do things to be printed and enlarged for other applications off the computer.

    Good luck

even if you only learn one new thing it'd be worth it.

I take any and all classes that I can, when I can. I'll even look up tutorials that I may not have seen and learn them. It doesn't hurt to learn.

I have been in graphic design for 10 years and still think I know nothing. I try to take courses on anything that I am having trouble teaching myself. I have taken 3 classes in Flash. I took a class on Illustrator and knew way more than everyone there, but along the way I picked up little things that I never knew and was always frustrated I didn't know how to do. Plus if you are too advanced for the class you look like a rockstar for being so good.

if anyone thinks they've learned it all...they've learned nothing. never stop learning and growing...and wanting to learn new things. no matter what you get out of it, you will have learned something.

I think it's very important to take the classes to get lessons PS, Dreamweaver etc. I know photoshop since elementary school. Now, I'm taking a classes to get Adobe Certification. And last month i've passed my Adobe certification. It's effective to ensure your skill.
