    designers block

ugh... i had ideas flowing all around for 3 of the posted contests and for some reason now - they just aren't coming out... I'm used to not controlling it when I paint but the design-block stuff is frustrating. anyone else get this seemingly out of no where?

Im sure it will pass...just want it to pass, now!

Better than having Designers Syndrome! The constant itching keeps you from being able to do anything productive.

Joking of course It happens to me all the time. I usually just sleep it off and wake up to new inspiration. Places like this help out too, because seeing great designers hard at work, putting out they're best stuff, is also inspirational.

    Good Luck!

    Or the #FFFFFF page syndrome...

When i had a creative block with a client's project i would just take a walk, do something else or wait a day and creativity would return.

I have being trying to finish my portfolio for 2 weeks now, designing for myself is the worst.

And i found that sometimes getting inspiration online is a bit tricky, sometimes you see some fantastic designs or artwork, and it would inspire me in a totally different way. Or sometimes it can lead me to appropriate unconsciously (or consciously) that certain style or solution to my problem.

I think the best solutions are often not found in front of a computer

thanks for the feedback! great to see the interaction.

I definitely have toooooo many irons in the fire right now (marzac2) and that probably is part of the issue... have too much and want to do too much course thats how creative types are wired, yes?

and Gabber, definitely agree a step (or two) away from the computer is a must at times to clear the head a bit.

we all know that can turn into a "just one more thing and I'll take break" for at least another hour before you really take that break...

...amazing the things we tell ourselves we would do if we ONLY had the time... and then we have it and struggle with it. of course, that what artists do too right?
to quote/paraphrase: "Every artist is a cannibal, every poet is a thief, all kill their inspiration, then sing about the grief"

If i may suggest something, If you have an idea.. but you can not get it to come out, try a different medium.

For example: A ton of newer designers you strictly computer. But you are veryyy limited on the computer. Try getting away from the computer like cre8ivediff said and maybe sketch something out. Don't worry if you are completely terrid at drawing. Just try to sit down and draw to the best of your ability what you want to see in digital form on your computer. Then start to transpose.
