to the point. I like it. great advice.

follow the rules. be yourself. listen to what the client wants. deliver. wait.

being patient is arguably one of the most difficult. as designers we should all be very well accustomed to 'hurry up and wait...now it need it yesterday"

All your Fingers aren't the same size! which means Customers has a different taste. Which means you can Win easily. I Saw Once a Normal User won and the elite designer didn't. Which means you cant ever predict which is the Winner, whether it is from elite designer or from a regular user. I saw A Talented Designers get their Design Eliminated and picked up a normal design from a regular member.

Always Always Always have faith in your self and never give up. There is some customers some where will love your work. And thats is the spirit of competition Never Give up

    Cheers

    Hi cre8ivediff ... :-)
BE PATIENT! KEY has to do with not burning your only 3 chances up so fast ... I mean you have only 3 entries allowed on each contest, so ... don't disparate on posting 3 different logos ASAP ... so post one, ... take your time ... read the feedback ... make some revisions ... etc.
    What do you think?

One of the biggest keys is becoming involved in the forum here at DC.. That way you can participate in the Elite Design Team contests by being voted in, as well as open contests. LOL
Be sure and check out all the great designs in the Community Contests!

    My version

    * FOLLOW THE RULES! - no, because the client never knows what he wants
    * READ THE BRIEF! AND THE DETAILS! - no, because the client never knows what he wants
    * MANAGE YOUR ENTRIES! - yes, please
    * READ ALL THE FEEDBACKS & COMMENTS! - no, because the client never knows what he wants, unless you make him belive it was his thought in the beginning
    * BE PATIENT - better find a decent job ... like laying bricks or farming ...
    * ENTER AS MANY CONTESTS AS YOU ARE ABLE TO! - yes, the more balls you have in the lottery the bigger the chance to win, right?
    * DO YOUR BEST! - no, because the client never knows what he wants
    * DESCRIBE YOUR ENTRY WELL, THE CONCEPT, THE INSPIRATION, THE MEANING! - yes, because the client never knows what he wants
    * PUT YOURSELF IN THE CLIENTS' SHOES! - yes, because the client never knows what he wants
    * START YOUR DESIGNS FROM SCRTACH! BE ORIGINAL! - duh! :P ... no, wait .. you had to make 20 designs by yesterday ... ohwell, who needs sleep anyway.
    * CONSTANTLY IMPROVE YOUR SKILLS! - duh! :P
    * NEVER GIVE UP! - ... still farming

+ so since the clients never know what they want (if they did, they'd do it themselves :P) you can max your lottery winning oppurtunities by POSTING AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE (gives time for feedback and alternative approach if necessary)

I think that is an important aspect designers should take into consideration. After all, the client is the one who chooses the winning design.

well nice post, very nice but I don't agree with this point, I believe in this quotation a lot:
If your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt. ~Henry J. Kaiser

    Excellent disagreement.
Disagreement though, but a good one, for sure.
