    People give me such headaches

i dont know how many times ive come across someone who thinks they can make a good logo in MS word........

or i spend hours on a design only to give them a proof make X changes and have it become something im ashamed to say i did but they like and then they complain about the price cause its something they could of did..

4 years of design school just to get people that i wanna slap

ah yes, most people ain't aware of this, but the real trial begins when you start working with real life clients, some of them have issues and should be banned from society, some of them are just easily irritated and can pass their irritation to you which can lead to a total nuclear meltdown.

my advice here is same as with the rest of life, to stay the hell away from lunatics, as the saying goes, they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

haha i know exactly what u mean! but get used to that!
You will find this type of clients more often the you think.

I have a friend that quit her job because of that.
But the new job, is not much different.

all true...but don't miss out on the rose for the thorns. even in freelance you are after your clients satisfaction. I know we all want to keep our professional/personal integrity but there are ways to do that and make your client happy. don't let the few downers get in the way of the rewarding ones. trudge through the best you can and move on...in some cases it really is good to have a short memory.

Oh, don't forget about the people that prefer using MS Paint! I have to say I've been pretty fortunate with clients, but I've had a few frustrating encounters

how about when you ask someone to send you an image, and instead of just sending the jpeg, they paste it into a PowerPoint slide and send you the slide... ugh.

How about the person that wants a logo but doesn't really know what they want. it ends up draggin out for months, cause they "can't" get back to you but like once a week and with in that week they've seen something ele they liked better and want to go that direction instead. Then shift a little back and forth.. lol

    Coy,

In the sign business, I deal with that all the time.
The customer has no clue what they want. Of course, the first thing you do is
ask questions pertaining to the motif of the project. Simple questions, like:
what colors do you like?, what will the sign say?, what's your phone number?
And they don't know. A lot of them don't even know what their business name
    will be.

After I've spent an enormous amount of time figuring it all out, I have to listen
them go on about how they already have someone who will do the job for 80%
less than what I would charge.

At that point, I bid them farewell.

As the saying goes 'The client/customer is always right'.
Can be very frustrating at times.
I dont know how many times i've had people who want their ads done in nothing but Comic Sans!
To me it looks like absolute Horse Sh#t but to those microsoft office using folk, it looks the goods.
But its what they ask for so i'll give it to them.

Don't even get me started on people who think they know how design/Pre-Press/ Printing all works, but they actually know next to nothing. That is a whole different story.

If I had a dollar every time this has happened to me, I would be a very rich man!

It still surprises me to this day how many times I see these clients... But somehow I still manage (in most cases) to get in a spark of my flair.

Sometimes what I like to do is to show them what they wanted and show them where I was going. sometimes they tell me to mix the two. It's kinda cool.

    But yeah
