Apple.
skypy logo
Apple and Nike!
One of my Best favorite logos is the APPLE logo
NIKE logo.......timeless and simple logo...
NIKE!
Defenitly my first choice. The most recognizible logo all over the world, no matter of country or intellectual standard, sex, race or nation. The logo is unique, very simple, and offer posibility of modifing/playing.
Everyone loves Nike, of course.
My problem with the whole "Great Logo" thing is that it's not really the logo, it was the branding.
I see a lot of really great logos being thrown out by company owners because they do not see the vision. They often go too complex. Nike saw the vision, and branded it effectively.
Think of clothing. Clothing generally has no appeal unless someone of stature is seen wearing it. This is branding. Association of the product on something others consider "bigger" than themselves.
To follow up on my earlier comment, let's imagine if Nike did not exist. If you were to throw a "swoosh" to most companies company today, it would have no worth. I could just see some account exec in charge of the project saying "That's too simple, we are looking for something more etc. etc.."
Do I think Nike is a good logo? Yes, absolutely. I am just saying that it is a whole lot more involved then "Looking nice."
Exactly! Nike is my first choice as World famous, not generaly.
Anyway, I agree with you - it's branding. But still it's great logo, became an world not only clothing appeal icon, but much more. Many people have that as tatoo, for example.
When they had a big boom, I think '80, it was cool even to have a Nike sticker (many couldn't afford a sneakaers in my ex-motherland). That is typical sign of consumerism.
Like you said company had a vision (btw - I think they have something like that in some of their's slogans)... but it wouldn't be like that if it was other type of industry, of course.

I agree with Panois...the Coca-Cola logo! I had to trace it back in college in a typography class and got to know how subtle all the curves and weights are. Timeless.
I also think the (much newer) Zumba Fitness logo is exceptional. Extremely versatile with multi-cultural appeal.

i really like the apple logo. I also like the android logo also.
Coca-cola and Nike are my faves. They're simple and most importantly, they speak their brand.
Coca Cola

(Believed to be the first coupon ever, this ticket for a free glass of Coca-Cola was first distributed in 1888 to help promote the drink. By 1913, the company had redeemed 8.5 million tickets.) Source: Wikipedia

The star-studded, nice!
Friday Night Lights DVDThe show’s greatest strength has always lied in its characters, starting with Coach Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler) and his wife Tami (Connie Britton). And as the roster of players in this show goes on ,it’s worth mentioning how no one comes across as insignificant or underwritten.
Nip Tuck DVDBut what makes the thing so damn complicated is the fact that there's real drama here, as well. The recipe is not entirely without substance
The Closer DVD"Closer" is set in contemporary London and spans a period of four years.
NCIS DVD is an medium which cannibilizes its own successes, where one hit show inspires more variations on the same formula every pilot season.
