@ J&L design
it seems very difficult to price,
and that too varies which one would choose an expensive or inexpensive.
Hi from the neighboring town of Garut
it depends on so many conditions...
ask yourself how much is an adequate wage for an hour of your work (taking into account local conditions) and how much hours you spend working on one project and then charge accordingly. Of course if you are doing quality work. If you are just doing the first steps in the industry it's a whole different story.

Thanks for you are both r1ck_art and resurepus . your comment enough assisting me.
Hi, J&L!
In our country, can't predict the "normal price" we all know how the ppl say about logo design price in bunch of small advertising agent around us
but professionally,
I always create standard fee to designing a logo or provide logo design packages.
for examples, a standard logo design with 10 concept and 5 revision round will cost the client around $300-$500.
or logo with heavy illustrations/characters will cost higher than $500, and my full package for corporate Identity package is around $1500 - $2500 and my logo design for branding/re-branding purposes with market brand analysis will cost up to $7000.
if clients want cheapest fee, ask client to create a visible concept to make my job more easy, just re-draw without dead brain cell to think hard the concept, it will reduce $50-$100.
anyway, the price will reflect your quality and please remember...

depending on the level of difficulty of the logo itself, and how the client gives the price on what he sought. I think it
and how much time to spend to designe a logo?
I have often the same doubts about pricing my works. And living in little towns (in southern italy) won't help, cause people think that a nice logo is "only" a nice logo. And it doesn't mingle with their business growth ore with the attractive or surplus that our work can add to their shops and products.
In any case I agree with you about calculating the price for each hour of work, taking into account the single local contest.
But what if I over or understimate my work/hour?
Isn't there a medium price to follow without understimate other designers work?
This site is the proof that internet narrows the world; I think it would be useful to avoid unfair competition working (for example) at the half of your prices, just to keep a job.
Economic history teaches us that it is not a good deal for anyone.
I agree with you, but ... sometimes I can create a logo in 10 hours, and sometimes it takes me 20 or 30h. Does it mean that a customer must pay me 3 times more that other one? That I see just and not at the same time.
Agreed it depends on complexity, but also client size/budget. I do a lot of logos for small start-ups that I charge a flat fee of $500 (US). Sometimes put in over 20 hours, but work closely with clients and they are very happy- referrals always a plus.
I think it depends on the creativity... In previous thread about best logo's I was absolutely astonished by SPARTAN Golf Club LOGO - that guy must have been awarded I think. It was brilliant. There are a lot of iconic logos as of today, and my question is - does designer get paid more after? Do I have to copyright it? How does it work?
I came up with a very interesting logo, but I don't know how to copyright it and how much should I charge for it. Please advise
I know its hard for us that have studied the arts for so many years to see other people basically doing it for free. BUt reality is that because of all the compitition and websites who generate generic logos we are fourst to lower our prices. The economy has hit us all and the first place businees are cutting costs is in marketing. Do some research on local comanies near you and go from there. Prices vary from city to city. Good luck!!
I believe that in America it has to do with copyrights. It has to be explained somehow legally that you get the percentage. Imagine, at one point everywhere you look you will see the logo that you created for $500, and people are making BILLIONS on that, and it is recognized world wide. How would that make you feel? Of course your name as a designer will be recognized and you probably will get tons of work... BUT, that idea of logo, that brilliant little image that came to YOUR mind, should be rewarded as the development of business. I am not trying to be greedy (or maybe I am, sue me) and I am not talking percentage of sales. I am just talking of being fair, as your intellectual investment into the image - should be rewarded accordingly.
It is not a bad idea, and I believe that all the designers will be delighted. But it is not real. Not today, not tomorrow. I am afraid that it will not happend never.
The worst thing can happen to designer is not being paid at allor when dealing with client who thinks it is very easy job - like some said "$xxx?! What?! Come on, it's just 2 clicks for you!"
Take how much is objectively acceptable for you & your effort.
price is important...but keep in mind that the outside world that sees your design doesn't know how much the client paid for it...just if it's a good design and if the clients is happy...i feel your reputation is the most important thing and i alway try to do the best work i can no matter what i'm being paid...in the long run it will pay off...take care, sam
