Like aik, I use Linux (Ubuntu), dual boot with Windows. So I have to say Windows, although I never use Windows, only Linux recently. So my answer is ... Windows/Linux! It's free, and all the software comes free. On Ubuntu it's easy to get, too, with it all in the Ubuntu Software Center. Unfortuantely, Windows still plays a part because all my documents were originally Windows documents.

    well..
mac prices are just high compared to pc prices
though the specifications of the pc are catching up with mac's with lower price...take the i7 pc processor for example..
compare both capabilities and price with mac
    tell me what you see...

    Here you go

As a former Mac user who switched to PC I'm reminded of those PC vs. Mac commercials we all have seen.
I think a great commercial for PC would be to run one of those Mac commercials "as is" with the Mac guy trashing the PC guy but then do the following:
Have the director yell "CUT". The PC guy will then leave the stage and start talking to all the behind the scenes crew while the Mac actor is left on stage twildling around with nobody to talk to.
    That should say it all.

I use both mac and pc at work, they have their advantages and disadvantages.

Although, i am leaning towards mac lately because i have been using my mbp over my pc desktop.

I switched to Mac three years ago. Before that I changed my PC every two years, but now my experienced Mac still ok until this day. In school sometimes I should use PC-for AutoCAD and 3Dmax.

I think Mac is overrated. I use a mac myself, and I love it. It does the job well, and I don't really know what more I would want from a system at the current time.
But... PC's are cheaper, a lot cheaper, and windows 7 is really nice to use. If you want to design multimedia, then windows is definitely the way to go, since it is much more compatible with the various media standards, where as on mac, you can easily come in a situation where you suddenly can't open a commonly used file format - simply because you are on a mac.
Network and sharing is also better on PC (linux) if you ask me.
Mac's are simple to use, but you can easily run into limitations that can be a bitch to get around.

But yea, since win7 mac's kinda look waa-ay overdesigned. My clickcount and overall flow in PC is much shorter, I kinda know where stuff is and how to troubleshoot it (though XP was times more coherent in this), it's cheap and personally - I've yet to see a Mac user who's not a poser and actually happy with it

Never had Mac, never needed one. From what I know people start using one thing, they get used to it and think everything else is inferior to it.
