    Question Being an artist

Most of the people I saw on this forum are probably designers as a full-time job or some other kind of artists.

I'm not an artist with school for it, I don't even study art, but I love to create art.

And actually that's my problem. I'd like to "work" as an artist, create art for some people occasionally, make some designs but I don't know where to start. Do you have some ideas? What do you create your art for? Is it just for you to share with world or something more like work?

you could create your own portfolio with some of your illustrations,
then you could make a myspace page and send the link to other friends!
It depends, you start for passion and if the people like what you do, for sure you can sell what you do!
Never start just for money, use your heart everytime!!!

Yea, I started (and I'm still starting)like that, I'm on Deviant Art and I'm painting pictures for fun.

But part of the work with art is a criticism, which I can't get from anywhere most of the time. Because when I send pictures to my friends they all say wooow that's so cool I love it.. but they don't say what they like and what they don't.. I'd like to be more professional and I feel like I can't if I don't do something more serious

The easiest way to break into it is to pick something you're interested in and create your own assignment. Feel like designing a logo? Grab some product from around your house and try to design something more interesting than what you see in front of you.

You're more than welcome to post some of your artwork here in the forums (many people do) and let the other designers give feedback. We love looking at others' work!

Be specific. Post in this forum and ask for a real critique. Just keep in mind that people will often try to sugarcoat their opinions to avoid hurting your feelings. So, I find it helps to blatantly state that you're REALLY looking for growth and would REALLY appreciate BRUTAL honesty.

Have you visited Etsy - Your place to buy and sell all things handmade, vintage, and supplies, that is a place where many artistīs sell their stuff. There are many cool creations out there!, I donīt know if you want to actually sell your art or just show, but this is a neat site to sell tho.
