I can deal with both - however having my PC crash, and then shortly after my motherboard fried, I'm not real happy with the PC. not to mention I keep on getting that BSOD (blue screen of death). I think if I were to buy a new computer I'd buy a mac just for its stability factor. plus its just sexy, don't ya think? ;-)

PC or MAC, the age long question, i currently used PC i have used mac, the new macs i must say are cool, work well, they are smooth and just fun, my beefy pc is also good, doesnt have any of the style like a mac, but havernt had any problems with, i too have heard that macs are better for designing, i have used both but as the majority of my sw is for pc, i might as well stay with pc, however yeah a mac would be good 2.

I work on PC at the office Mac at home, and I am often asked why people consider Mac the superior graphics machine. I think this is a product more of style than substance. Most of us are designers and/or intrigued by design. Mac is the better looking/designed machine, you can't really argue that. There are subtle differences in both, but I feel since I can run Adobe CS and other programs easily on them both, then what I create is not affected by the machine I use, but rather my programs and abilities. Just my point of view though.

I've used both and still do, but most definitely prefer a Mac over a PC. I've just found that Mac are easier to use, a more reliable OS and seemingly faster. I don't think that Macs can claim to be better machines for design, at least not now. Now that software companies cater to both OS's. It's just a matter of what are you more comfortable working with.

I used to love PCs, until OsX came out. The graphical interface just blows me away. A huge reason why designers prefer the Mac is because a lot of details are taken into designing the user interface, from the OS to every application. Plus, if you look at Mac application icons and the PC ones, you'll see a whole world of difference.

And btw, the reason why more designers use Macs in the past was because of a few important issues. The colours you get on screen for the Mac are much more accurate compared to the PCs (without calibration), which was important for print designers in those days. Also, macs handled postscript fonts and printers better than the PCs, and you wouldn't want to use a PC because your files/fonts wouldn't be compatible when you send for printing. Back then PCs couldn't use postscript fonts, you had to install extra software. With the invention of the web and all, more and more designers started off using PCs because everyone started to learn the software through those online tutorials, plus back then PCs were more web-centric.

So it's really not only about the pride and style.

    my two cents worth. :P

    Fervent Mac user

I use Mac in my business (design/web development) and from experience I can say that it is much more reliable than a PC due mostly to a more stable OS. In 2 years, working 8-10 hours on my Mac I never crashed the OS. This is very important when it comes to business and making sure my data are safe. of course... I still backup all my work. I have been using PC for 16 years prior to Mac.... with crash every here and there losing data and hours of work... never again...

I started designing on PC's and loved it. Then I got my G5 and I will never look back! All I can say is Mac makes it too easy to design, with the ability to view all windows that you have open at the same time while allowing you to drag and drop virtually anything you want from one program/window to the next! The more I learn about all of the Macs powerful tools, I am able to work/design so much faster than I was ever able to on my PC, in the design profession efficiency is money.

Not to mention that I have not had to install one piece of virus protection software on my Mac and have yet to have a crash or any virus related problems in the two years that I have had it.

I've always heard that mac is much better for designing. I'm much more comfortable working on a PC but I have a pretty fast PC and it seems to take forever to do some features in Photoshop that wouldn't take as long in a Mac. I think i'm going to get a Mac strictly for design purposes but keep my PC for DVD/CD burning, music, and things of that nature

yep, both Mac and PC have their own advantages.

but the BOOTCAMP feature of Mac gave them a huge lead. ;D
