    Faster Loadtime

Any suggestions on speeding up the loading time of a site?
    Does slicing images smaller help?

    file format and slice format

    Hi,

When slicing, you can apply different format (jpg, gif) to different slice. Use of jpg for all type of pict and photos, gradient and GIF for slice with a few color (no effects). Also, re-formatting your pictures before inserting is a good way to reduce global weight. For some heavy weighted picture, you can use progressive jpg but only if required. Try to avoid transaprency with GIF. If you use ImageReady for example you can have aview of each sliced optimized and try to apply different settings to see the gain or loss of weight.

    Hope it helps....

ps. I don't like website with too many slices.... you can also use CSS and building your website you can apply directly to CSS a color which will also reduce final weight instead of using abundant slicing. I usually only slice what I really need.

Yup, apart from optimzing your images you can use CSS to build your site instead of using nested tables or the html that fireworks/imageready output. http://csszengarden.com to see what I mean.
