oh, let's not start this one again
I am a hardcore PC user. Don't see why you should spend more money for the same stuff.

same stuff? haha...im a diehard mac user. i don't think there is any comparison in the "stuff" at all...i think there are alot of differences, but none the less the words "send error report" aren't in my vocabulary! hahaha...i'm only giving you a hard time...Originally Posted by resurepus

yea man Mac and PC will soon be nearly one and the same .... so much will be cross-compatible ..... and anyway ....WHO THE HECK CARES if your on Mac or PC???? This sems like a wasted topic if you ask me .... people have to get over this whole Mac versus PC thing the arguing over it is just immature.....by the way I am a PC user but will probably buy a Mac next time around ..... but mybe not I like some of the Dual-Core processor PC's (yes yes I know Mac has dual-Core) Anyway thats what I think of the whole issue.....

I am told mac machines can now run windows. It's difficult to customise macs. Thus I am for PC.
if you tend to use a lot of software and always favour compatibility, then i suggest you go for the PC
I think the great diference between "OsX and Windows is the way we flow between softwares. I have recently changed from Pc to Mac and I´m definitely happy with this change. I move objects, and files, etc between the windows I´m working on with more efficiency than I used to move on a Windows. In fact I think "OsX" should be called Windows instead, because of it´s huge functionality. With this change I have improved a lot the speed of my work. I guess I have reached another level of interaction with the machine, that is not possible on a PC. Of course, when I say PC I´m refering to "Windows".
About the myth that peolple spread about the fact that a Mac doesn´t crash, I have got say, and you peolple know very well, there are not perfect machines. Of course Mac crashes like PCs.
Truly, this discussion isn't valid anymore (and thank miscellaneous divine powers for that), because Apple's migration to Intel processors have made it possible to run both operating systems on one piece of hardware. For the record, I favour Macs because I've always been using them and quite frankly because I care how my computer looks (and PCs have a long way to go before even looking somewhat decent).
I ordered an iMac last Thursday... and hopefully it arrives next week! I am used to using a pc and never actually experienced whether a mac would be better or worse for daily use.. The reason however that I did decide on buying one is simply because the school I will be attending the following two years uses macs only. I'd like to get the feel of it and I'm sure that my Wacom tablet will be used more often once I have a proper desktop.. Once I experience the true differences, I'll be sure to tell you wether I prefer or pc or mac!
Macs are tight i work on one at work. I have a PC also i like using the mac more the PC is good for customizing with parts and its mainly for gaming and other stuff...
I use Linux now its 10 times faster then Windows, i was thinking of buying a Mac Mini but i dont feel like it right now..
As I see it, even for designers; PCs are an absolute necessity and macs are a luxury. (a worthy luxury if youcan afford it). Having both at hand is optimal.
just buy a intel mac and have windows on it + linux but CS2 runs SLOW because of the Rosetta converstoin it should be fixed in CS3
Personally,
I love my mac. Even though I grew up on a PC amongst other OS's many which dont exsist anymore. (I had one of the first computers with a CD rom in it). I have to give my vote for the mac. File sharing/Print serving/Multimedia all run mucho betta on my OSX. I have 3 macs at home, an ibook g4, a Macbook Black, and a lampshade Imac 17". I will never go back to the PC ever. At work I have 3 Mac Towers (PPC G5s) 2 Duals and 1 Quad. We seldomly recieve PC files at my print shop, but we do have them available in PC alley as we like to call it. But even then we are just exporting files as EPS, and dropping them back to the mac into indesign.
anyways I dont like the PC- Viruses, crashing, and All those stupid drivers to worry about... MAC 4EVA.
And if you read some of the rumours on the MAC websites they are starting to talk about running Windoze files on the new intel machines without booting into XP. Which you can do on them (bootcamp) very easily ( I have XP installed on this machine but have only used it to play a game or 2 that you cant get on the mac) and I do agree that the Adobe products running through rosetta are slower, and i cant wait for the next installment of Adobe CS to be running without going through the emulator.

I had a PC for years growing up... from Win 3.11 all the way to XP...
I was forced on a Mac for training in our college computer labs...bought a Powerbook that same year and haven't looked back since.
I definitely feel my productivity has gone WAY up since making the switch. I also love that I've been able to be on WiFi, without a firewall or anti-virus for the last 2 years and have never had one virus. That, in itself, is worth the extra bucks.
Ummmmm stop me if I'm wrong but didn't Intel and Mac collaberate and now the mac is pretty much the "same" as the pc? -- lol in my opinion either isn't better -- you have your dual processors now that are almost standard. and people dont build a mac when they do custom work - they usually build a PC because it does the job lol
I have a nice custom PC I've built myself but as with any technology from computers to your blackberry - things change - everything is outdated and moved to the back of the rack replaced by something new every single day somewhere in the world.
Computer companies are getting smarter - and there's a race going on like never before - more powerful home and business computers alike (servers ect) are becoming soo powerful and affordable at the same time.
So when I read something like "Mac or PC" lol it doesn't really make any sense =P
Just my opinion is all!
I have personally - 1 custom pc(my gaming pc lol) - 1 Vaio laptop - and a new Gateway Media Center Edition GM5072 with all the options (fast lil sucker lol) for all of them i have an external 1tb hard drive (2 500 gig bridged into1) that all my computers are networked on. mostly have it for video editing and other designing elements - with any computer i recomend one. keeps space free on your local hard drive for programs and also the computers run faster due to the upkeep is easier - defrag - disk cleanup ect
I just read today - Intel - Intel revealed that it was poised to release a powerful new computer chip packed with four microprocessors- - a QUAD chip lol - eat your heart out Mac users haha =P
(all my hardware i have got from ebay at a killer price also!)
man that was a long reply!

The design department labs at my college were ALL Macs (and I always got this black bomb and had never saved in time...), but once I went onto work in the outside world, I have yet to encounter a Mac in my workplace. Maybe they are commonplace at design firms, but the smaller graphic design departments of a large non-graphic design companies that I have worked for have all been pcs. Now I just get the BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH!
lol i have 3 gig of ram on my pc - I have yet to get a blue screen =P hehe I remember back in the day with windows 98 - I think I got a blue screen 10x a day!!! Sorry to hear that bryantali - tell em to upgrade their ram hehe
I used to lose alot of work because of that evil bluescreen! I just have a really really big habbit of saving everything after a big change has been made - sometimes even a small change hehe - so I guess it got me into a good habbit of that now.
I guess people grow used to one machine over another. The future is in hand though and I said it before, both platforms are only getting better! bryantali - you're in Seattle - some of the best pc's are around that area lol been there a few times - to redfield? redmond? don't remember, it's been about a year since I've last been there! Sorry to hear about the evil bluescreen =P
