are there obligatory logos or texts that have to be used on audio CD covers inside US? in Canada for instance there's a regulation that you have to place "Made in Canada" on your audio CD.

I never heard about such obligation. I think as long it is for personal usage, it should be alright as long as you do not infringe any copyright.

in germany you have to buy and place the LC number on your CD if you wish to receive any royalties at all. the GEMA logo is also an advantage for authors.
Hey-I was asked to make a CD cover for a friend and am wondering the amount of time it takes you to make one. Also, do you have any suggestions on how to get started? I've done no work on Illustrator before and very little on Photoshop. I'm not sure where I should get started.
Thanks:-]
The amount of time it takes to make a CD cover in Photoshop or Illustrator depends 100% entirely on the design itself, and how quickly you're able to work with the software. Since you're new to Photoshop and Illustrator, here are a few CD making tips.Originally Posted by ldurban
1.) The cover "booklet" needs a folded size of 4.75" X 4.732".
2.) The back inner sleeve needs a size of 5.907" X 4.627". You need to alot .25" on either side of the back label to allow for the CD title and related text to fold around the edges.
If you're new to print design, remember that you'll need to design it in CMYK mode, with a resolution of 300dpi for a minimum.
Hope that helps. If you're new to Photoshop and Illustrator, I recommend picking up a couple books on the subject. They're exceptionally in-depth softwares, and there's a lot of really amazing things you can do with them.
