Right now, I create my logotypes in Photoshop witch is not the very best way to go when I'm not creating vectors but i'm working on learing Illustrator when I feel comfortable with that interface.

I should let you know, DR3AM, that you will be required to use a vector program to participate in the contests here. The following thread has some related information:

If you wanna have the best there is only one choice - Adobe Illustrator. It has a pretty steep learning curve, so it requires patience - and a fairly big investment. If you wanna get started with Vector drawing try something like Xara Xtreme - it has all the basics and is ultra fast and cost way less than illustrator.

Either Illustrator or Photoshop. Sometimes a combination of both.

Go to adobe.com and grab a free trial of Illustrator, it's a 30-Day Full Version trial and it offers all the features. I wouldn't recommend Photoshop because it is too easy to get comfortable with, and it isn't the standard for vector illustration.

    Smile Vector program

By far, Illustrator is the best. The best reading material to help you learn the program is called The Illustrator (whatever version) Bible, written by Ted Alspach & Brian Underdahl. Definently get the book, it helps alot! Good luck!

Flash .... Nah just kidding. It uses vector too though.

Off course use Illustrator. But best way i like to do is grab a piece of paper and draw everything you think off. When you think there are few good one between it, scan it in and use Illustrator to make them.

I scan it cause I some how got a problem that i can reproduce it again. Always when i draw or sketch something and i need to redo it the first version is always better.

Illustrator got a fast tool to turn the sketch to vector, but only use it if you are sure that the sketch is perfect. Other way is dull and take time, but much more accurate just use the pen too.

I like to hand-draw my logo designs and scan them in as well. I don't do live trace, though. Instead, I just use the pen tool to trace certain parts. Illustrator is easily the best for logos.

If you can't afford to just go out to the Adobe site and buy Illustrator straight out, you may want to consider looking at ebay. Seriously, there are some great crazy deals going on there on Adobe products. Entire CS3 suites are going for under $300 apiece.

A free software also with vector and image editing tools is Gimp. Its a totally free software. I have seen it installed on my cheap ass Industrial design school cause they don't have money for Adobe students edition.

You need to download extra plugins to export things to eps file. For what I have seen it looks pretty decent and can do pretty much as photoshop.
