Nicholas,
Thanks for the input.
To tell you the truth I'm not a fan of the grunge style.

I like the grunge style - it's just not very good for any type of logo, small business or large business. maybe on like internet media it's nice in some cases but yeah thats just my .02cents

O cool, thanks for the information. I didn't know that, but then again I haven't tried to make a grudge logo for anyone before. Thanks again.

I'm not a fan of the grunge style either really, but if a client wants a grunge logo and they are willing to pay more, I don't think its a horrible idea to use it because it still can be done. It also depends on what they will be printing on.

No problem for the information - yeah in some cases it's good but most cases, it's probably not - it is however the designers obligation (if you're nice and not just out to make a buck) - to tell the company about printing issues for whatever content you create for them.
again just my .02cents! lol - thanks all for your replies - more are welcome! we need more posts like this one I made!

I like the grunge style for some things (It seems fitting for some companies), but I never knew that about the printing....I only work in web media, but this is some interesting information!
Thanks!

Thanks for this! I don't know much about the print process either, so this is something I'll have to keep in mind. However, there are some companies/bands/people that require more of an alternative look, and I think grunge can look really cool for logos in those situations. But now, I'll just have to make clients aware of that for the future.
But are logos always screenprinted?
That could be a dumb question, but I'll ask it anyway.

screen printing can be used for T-shirts, hats, CDs, DVDs, ceramics, glass, polyethylene, polypropylene, paper, metals, wood, and some other things I believe. I think you should always discuss with your client what style they want, and if it is grudge, make sure to tell them it will cost more. Some clients are willing to pay well for a certain look.

Screen printing can be done on just about anything - it just costs alot more than a standard print plate.
Very true @ apresico's point on "some clients are willing to pay more for that certain look"
Just be sure to point it out
This is starting to be a pretty good thread! We need more like it - so if anyone has a tip I would certainly read it (even if i allready know - i dont know everything! lol)
So start some new threads up and lets get this forum really going!
