    Gradient Yes or No

The school where I study using gradient in a logo is prohibited. But I see allot of logo's here and around the web that got allot of gradient. Also give good cool effect, but my school says if you use gradient pressing the logo on paper would make allot of problems.

Mostly also depends on how they press it and which size they press it. Cause if the logo is small you the gradient would get messy on some of the pressing process. Also gradient from one color to the other would get messy smudges or the colors don't flow over each other cause the ink is too thick.

So what do you all think off ?

Gradient can but also always ad non gradient version?

    great points....
gradients have become really popular, with the Web 2.0 look......
we require that all submitted concepts show a 'flat' version (no gradient)...gradients can be hard to control in print, but on screen, work well...IMO, gradients should only be used sparingly, and for media that will not be printed.....usually when a gradient is scaled up, you'll get 'banding'.....looks terrible
Always provide clients with a flat version

As designers, it is our job
to think our designs through, from concept to press......what problems may be encountered, etc....I suggest all design students know the printing process( usually a requirement)...
    thanks for the topic...interesting

Thanks for the answer, I'll keep in mind for the next school assignment to ad multiple final version in the house style binders.
