While in today's world, flash animation portfolio's are becoming more common. I perfer to have the Html, or css kind of portfolio because i enjoy updating the site constantly, i always like to make a new improvement once every 3 days or so. With flash animation its a bit harder.

Also if you have somone who is on a slower connection flash will not load as much, nor as fast as a regular html, CSS portfolio would. Some people arnt even compatiable with flash animation these days, even if i couldnt see this being so hard to get compatiable.

So in my own opinion i would have to say its safer to stick with a HTML, or CSS type portfolio.

    I agree regarding CSS.

While Flash can be used to make some beautiful portfolio sites, it does make updates a minor difficulty. My suggestion would be to weigh your options and your skillset accordingly. If you are steeped in Flash experience and can manage such an undertaking with little problem then go ahead. One beauty of flash is (as can be difficult in html/css) it renders exactly the same way in multiple browsers whereas css renders differently across browsers and can make for some painful and tiresome hacking, trickery.

If you know both well I would advise perhaps making a site that utilizes both - maybe a css/html based site with a flash portfolio - this way you show you can manage both applications.

    Best of luck .

I just started to learn action scripting in flash and I think I like it much better than html. I think it gives you more design freedom and nice design effects
