Graphic Artists Guild Handbook:Pricing & Ethical Guidelines

    Hi, guys,

I've just bought the 8th edition of this book. I got mistaken thinking that this was the latest edition of the handbook and in reality the latest edition is #11. But I will still go ahead and read it - a lot of things has changed in graphic design industry since 1994 when the 8th edition was published, but I hope some chapters about building a relationships with clients should still be helpful.

But before doing so I would like to ask any of you follows the development of Graphic Artists Guild Handbook, I mean owns more than 1 edition. I was wondering how much is the content is changed. I mean not the chapters related to technology and latest copyright acts, but rather information on pricing your work and building healthy relationships with clients.

I would also appreciate any thoughts about this book in general. Thank you!

    I own the book

Yeah I own two of the books and a new one just came out...I would buy it every other edition..the content doesn't change much every edition. The pricing guides does change though. If your interested in pricing trends I would use AIGA. They do extensive research.

I use the GAGHB (11th Edition) in combination with a couple other titles that I find very useful; Graphic Artists to Pricing, Estimating, and Budgeting by Theo Williams in particular. Both come in very handy, and I find to tend to validate many of the pricing ladders I've encountered, both within the corporate environment, as well as in my own freelance work.
