the one that is not wider that 768px will fit on most screens (it will fit on all screens with resolution higher than 800x600)

I think today we don't really have to think about people with 800x600. Have not seen anyone using 800x600 for ages now think more 1024x768. Don't think there are people still using pentium1 with a 56kb connection. I hope not though.

I Agree with Chung Dha
What about me.. I am using 1003 pixels width (it's exactly fits IE screen under 1024x768 without horizontal scroll bar)

I must be behind the times, I'm still doing sites to fit on 800x600 screens.
What about people with laptops that have 14" screens? They won't likely be running resolutions higher than 800x600

I'm still doing sites for 800x600 too, but it depends on the type of site. If I have to do a portal, with a lot of menus, information, etc. I've begun tu use the 1024 x 768 resolution.

usually doing it based of 800 by 600 is a good standard to go with, 1024x 768 is also good as the majority of monitors handle this however better practice would be to use relative sizing using % and other techniques so that the website can adjust for different screen sizes. hope this helps out. Cheers
