It is kind of odd but the dutch government have paid 60.000 euro for a new logo that was presented few weeks ago. The logo would be used for 2008 while it is identical to the one that was made in 2002.

Well, if you ask me, I think it is some kind of money laundry...
follow DesignContest on twitter
I checked out the design company portfolio and it seem they have only made logo's for the government or the companies that are with the government or big dutch event . Would been better if they invested the 60.000 for something else then spilling it on a logo that actually nobody see.

What is the difference between the 2002 and 2007?
Non both are from the design studio Dumbar. The new logo was in a contest between several design companies and now the other companies are fighting against this, because it is unfair. They said hey researched which was the best and seem the original was the best and Dumbar was smart to submit the original. What was funny the contestants received the letter of the contest ad on the letterhead there was the logo already printed.
Why would the goverment pay that kind of cash for the same logo reversed out? I agree with resurepus it sounds kinda fishy to me.
hmm... yeah, that's fishy. Someone is being blackmailed in the governmentAnyway... that's plain stupid to spend that kind of money on the same design. Hey guetizo, the difference is the background.. lol..
he he he....
spot the difference?
maybe one of the gov't officials owns that design company. hhmmm....

I´ve found the difference!!! The first has white background and the new a blue one!! xD haahha
I would have done the same for less money ... lets say about 30.000 Euro!! xD
That was definitely a waste of money, or as resurepus said, money laundering of some sort... who knows, maybe the competitions ideas really sucked?(i doubt it)
Man, sure wish I could get paid for nothing. Hey wait, anybody wanna see my *NEW* design for the American flag?
I wish I can get 60.000 euro for just refining lines and minimizing details of an already exisiting logo!
Yes that's a lot of money! If they asked me I could make it for 30.000![]()
Did you count the claws on the lions' feet ?
I'm sure that the difference is there, as it's not visible anywhere else, LOL !
I listened to a conference by this dumbar guy once in a congress in mexico, about three years ago I was still in school, about fourth semester... I remember talking with my friends about how his designs all looked a lot alike...posters and stuff...
Hah! My professor used to work for the firm that redesigned the Dutch logo - apparently the CEO of the firm is a real schmooze.Harsh reality bites.
I know many designers that don't even want to try and compete in those contests organized by a government or big companies, since they think every one of them is fixed, some money laundry scheme and things like that
