Your layer style when designing in Illustrator?

Do you, as a general rule, use one layer for each object when designing in Illustrator, or you find yourself putting the artwork on one layer, text on another, etc.? How about final AI files to the client...everything on one layer or?

Through experience, I have learned that separating layers as much as possible and labeling them well works best for me.

You can always group them later, after all.

For clients, I always submit one layer, even if it's just a concept stage.
Always as a locked single layer. Typically a PDF.
Honey, I got rhythm that I haven't used yet.

Seperate layers just makes life easier. Making you work better of smaller parts instead of one big one. However not all logo's you need to use layers though. However making artwork or vectorizing pictures I would recommend layering.

    It depends..
Sometimes i work in one layer, but sometimes it's handy to make an extra layer for certain parts, so you can lock certain things.

It's just what I feel like doing :P

Depends, I usually use a few layers, when I am creating a character I do in several layers to be able to manage better, in terms of customers always show a jpg or PDF files.

I normally work in one layer (but I do logos almost exclusively). As far as showing the client, I sent PNG proofs for logos and PDFs for other items.

Layering is probably one of the best features. Makes it so much easier to select your desired pieces with having to select each individualy section.
With complex designs, the more layers the better. no question.

If I'm designing a logo, I'll put several on a page so I'll usually have one logo per layer. I'm not as careful with separating layers and grouping them as I am with Photoshop.

I use a layer per visual object. For example if I were doing a text/graphic logo combination the graphic and the text would be on separate layers for sure. Depending on each of those elements I might sub divide them into additional layers.

It's kind of a habit I got into due to working with Painter.
