    Question Graphics tablets...worth buying?

    Hey all,
I have used PhotoShop for years and am looking at maybe investing in a graphics tablet....i have heard some of them are tricky to use etc...

I just want a few opinions from those of you who have one/used one and your feedback on what to expect and if you would recommend one.
Also, any brand names that you would recommend would be a great help.

    Thank you in advance
    Nat

I've used Trust A4 tablet. I can say that it better than nothing and if your budget is really tight, but you want to paint/draw/sketch digitally, it is worth the money (I paid about $100 at the time)

But if your budget allows, it is definitely better to buy a Wacom. For me Intuos 3 A4 works perfectly, the difference between it and the Trust I had is HUGE, it's an excellent tool. Nothing tricky, you get used in no time and it becomes very natural.

Of course there's Cintiq (21" and 12") but I have no experience working with those.

The best are Wacom tablets,Intuos3,is great, there is Cintiq, advanced for pro,but so expensive about 820 pound
i think Intuos3 is good, depend,if you are pro,or if you will use it very offen,is worthy to buy it.

I have a Wacom Intuos3 tablet and it is true that it took some time to get used to it, but once you do it is just irreplaceable. It took me some saving to buy it (about 3 years ago) but it was definitely an investment that was worth it - at least for me it was. I rarely use the mouse when I work with Photoshop - mainly the tablet and its pen.

I haven't worked with other tablets, so I can't make comparisons. But I'd like to note that I just love one of the nibs for the grip pen that comes with it - it feels almost just like drawing with a pencil on paper. And since that's what I love to do most in my spare time - you can guess my tablet is used a lot

Yeah, Wacom is the way to go. Initially I wanted a cheaper one, but after reading a few negative reviews on some of the other brands, and also some opinions from some friends of mine, I decided on Wacom.

Sound like it is worth shelling out the extra $$$ for a better class of product. Looking forward to using one! Many thanks for taking the time to give me advice.

I would also recommend a Wacom tablet. I have been using the Wacom Intuos3 for more than 2 years in all applications (vector, Photoshop etc.). It's excellent... Very handy with drawing and photo editing.
Size.. at discretion. Wacom make a good range of tablets, but I think the A6 is the ideal combo of price point and ergonomics. On the larger tablets, you have to lift your hand and move too far with the pen. With the A6, your hand can mostly stay put.

    Yeah, Wacom is really good.
I havent been able to afford a tablet, but I know its a pain without them. I vector a lot and the only way I can do that neatly is to draw my stuff out by hand, scan it and then vector it out on illustrator. It's A PAIN. haha
