Google Launches Its Open-Source Browser Chrome

Official google blog reports that tonight Google Chrome Beta will become available for download. For now you can take a look at the comic they created to introduce it here.

What Chrome means to us, web developers? It means that google will gradually reduce support of FireFox and try to put Chrome in its place.

Oh noes! As much as I respect google for it's "user friendliness". I'm still one of the FF fans.

Anyway, google grows very swiftly in past years, it's kinda scary, actually.

it is funny that Google suggest you download the new browser even if you open it with Chrome.

I think it has chances, cause google can promote it, it the biggest search engine, and if they serve in AdSense an advertisement and pay good money, then a lot of people will use it

Well promotion is one thing, but habit is another. I doubt that FF users will switch over to Chrome...Would be good if IE users would though

Safari has flopped, it became unsecure, so even apple sugested to move on to another browser, secure as FF, IE or Opera.

Also I agree wit xorMedia, google has a very good chances (and finances^^), just in 9 hours after launch Chrome captured 1% of the whole market.

    I'm still an FFF

If by pirate gold you mean investors, then absolutely yes! And it's fun when you're become a media-monster, you can experiment with the market without any major worries.

Couldn't say whether it's true, Rockhart.

Personally I am little experienced with Chrome, still didn't found time to thoroughly test it.
What I saw was nice though, speed was quite alright.
And then it's chances: It's developed for the better serving of RIA's, and since Flex and AIR the ria's will be much more present, which will probably lead to a demand for a browser which serves those best (or better then IE )

Chrome is much better then IE or maybe even Opera (Opera rulez) from start. I like that it is simple, elegant and comfortable and yes, ergonomic as Sol said.

I have to agree that IE is a pain in the ass when it comes to webdevelopment.
However, you can't ignore the fact that still most of the market works with IE and therefor have to develop for IE, besides the browser we like to develop for.

I believe that all of us agree: Anything competing and fighting the notorious IE browsers is great news. Imagine a work or a live where you have to cross-browser test only on FF, Chrome and Opera. Unfortunately, that will be always just a dream.
