    Halftone

Hi everybody, hope all is well with everybody

I have a question about creating halftones in illustrator
(I use AI cs3). I don't want to use the filter unless that is the only way to create the art. I get requests from a few clients wanting me to create halftone designs and make them print ready for the screen printer. I know the screen printer does most of the work but do I prepare the art in any certain way or is it all up to the printer.

Are gradients about the same as halftones?

Anyone have tutorials or know how about halftone for print?

    Thanks Sharie

Thanks for the link, been waiting for some interest in halftone designing. Once in awhile a client wants a design done with half tones, not very often though as it also relies on how good of a screen printer you use. I know there are filters in ai and ps that will simulte half tones but I was just at a loss with how to prepare the art for the screenprinter. I will play around a bit on this site, thanks again.

Ya, not a problem, I try to stay away from filters / effects / transparencies as much as possible myself too because they always end up converting to a raster layer when rendered. But then again, my main focus is 2D Vector design.
