CreativeMeasures: Thank you for your entry! I like it.

    1) The head with the motorcycle is good.

    2) The navigation: Home, Schedule, etc. I don't like vertical. If I add/remove items it will affect the header photo size.

3)The red bar with the current navigation state is good. The Submenu drop-down list isn't the best solution. It's important that the visitor be able to navigate quickly to either the last few events or a specific organization area.

    4) Today's Photo: This is nice, but my intention is to display or rotate photos occasionaly. The Buy Now feature started earlier is nice but isn't how the site works. Very few people will be interested in a particular photo. The majority of users will want to find their own. I wanted to mention that, not a big deal, but future designs shouldn't emphasize the Buy Now feature.

    5) Frame with Navigation: This is nice. I think the Previous/Next triangle buttons are too large.

Thank you again for the entry.

    Axi:

Nicely done. I like the original concept very much.

    1) the header is very good

    2) The navigation for the organizations is very good

    3) The current navigation state is good

    4) The table and heading is good

    5) The previous and next will work.

    6) I like that you offered the main navigation on a footer as well.

    7) I like the design and concept a lot. I'm not a huge fan of orange.

    8) I'm anxious to see your thoughts on the other design elements.

One page is sufficient. In the final design the Home page will contain the navigation to the various organizations: AMA, CCS, etc. The other pages will not have this navigation and that's why I asked for possible two separate pages.

    2 DAYS LEFT
There are two days left in this contest. Today and tomorrow. Nothing would make me happier than declaring a winner Thursday AM and be done. However I'm a little dissapointed in the number of entries and that none of the entries include all the elements listed. If I asked for too much, or if the contest isn't worth it, I apologize.

If I understand the rules correctly, Thursday AM I will either declare a winner or pick up to five designers and give them an opportunity to refine their design. I would prefer to declare a winner and be done. But obviously I would like to get ideas for each of the elements I need. If I choose to continue, I will pick only the designers that I think have a legitimate chance at winning and as few as possible. I don't want to waste anyone's time.

For those of you who have submitted a design, thank you very much for your time!

All of the elements that you have asked for are too much for one page, that is why I only chose a few. Also, some of the elements like the "Photo Frame" and "Photo Frame with Additional Info and Functions" wouldn't all fit well at once nor still be good looking. It's like a person with 2 earings, it looks nice, but when you just pierce too much, it's overdone.

I understand. I wouldn't expect all the elements on the same page for a final product. I guess in a way I was trying to make it easier by just putting together one page. Maybe I made it more complicated.

I get your layout. I think I can envision it without the organizations bar on the right. What I would like to see is your suggestions for the following:

    1) Photo Frame: I commonly show 400 or 500 pixel wide sample and edited images. With your design, do you suggest just a single pixel border like you've done? No drop shadow anything like that? I personally would like something a little more substantial but yet be consistent with your vision.

    2) Thumbnails. Per above, a single pixel border or more?

    3) Thumbnail Strip: I need advice on how to organize the thumbnails in a vertical list with information like unique ID number, and star quality ranking. If you have anything different than the simple thumbnail from #2, great.
Otherwise it could be the same with plain text above each thumbnail.

    4) Folder: I'd like some structure, like a folder, that I can use to encompass a group of thumbnails or information. It doesn't have to be a folder. A structure similar to the table you already have might work fine. So, maybe it's just the table heading you have now, but some type of border would be nice. A colored background maybe.

I don't need these elements put together in an elaborate multi-page design. I don't expect you to design each of my pages on the site for $150. Sure it would be great , but I figured I would take the template, design elements, and make it work. I think you can put all the elements in the content area and I can see passed the clutter.

I'm very impressed with your design. And I understand that you didn't want it cluttered with everything on one page.

PS: I understand if you don't want to take the time to mess with it now, but I would prefer a red or dark red over the current orange.

    Okay, here are my suggestions...

    1) Both, a 1 pixel border and a drop shadow at the same time would look good. But make sure the shadow is sharp and not soft and spread out like the ones I see in your site. If you use Photoshop, have the spread at 0, and a distance of 5, then you'll know what I mean. (in an updated design I am currently working on, you will see what I mean)

    2) 1 pixel border, keep it simple and clean

    3) The unique ID number you are currently using on your site, is sort of big. Modifying it to a smaller blue font would be perfect. As for the stars, we could use images if you would prefer. So in my photostrip case, image on top, ID # under it, and ranking under that. This would work well.

    4) As for the folder, I'm working on it.

Also, I would have to comment on your color preference. From my past design experience and studies, I have found that we shouldn't always follow what the client asks for. It may be what he/ she likes, but that is only as an individual. The site is for visitors, and that is what we have to focus on, not what the client prefers (although sometimes it may be true). I chose orange because that color fits well with the design and that is what most people I know prefer. But if you would like, I could also make a red version, perhaps if I'm the winner, I can provide you with both the red and orange design, and you can maybe take time to reflect between the two. Hope you can understand what I'm trying to explain.

I'll have an updated entry by tommorow morning if not today. Thanks

I would be interested in seeing this. Did you get a chance to give it a try?

No major adjustments. I would like to see how you would handle a table of information and possibly a folder-like structure if it would be different than the Organizations heading you have now.

If you have a design more film oriented I would like to see that too. Thanks!

nonameface: thank you for the entry! Besides the anoying watermark, the elements are very nice.

    1) I don't care for the header in the first design. The font is too bold and I prefer buttons of sorts.

    2) The first table design is good.

    3) The second design with the zoomed in pics is good.

    4) The heading text, ORGANIZATIONS, PHOTOs is too bold.

    5) The photo frame is a bit simple and too bold.

    6) The table I'm not sure about. I think I like the style table in the first design more, alternating colored rows.

    7) The footer is good.

Thanks a lot for the design and your time!

Blazen: Thank you very much for your entry!

There are a lot of things I like about your design. However there is something I'm not sure I can put my finger on that kind of turns me off. I think it is the colors, maybe they're too primary, too solid or too similar. Bare in mind I'm terrible with colors so the best I can do is give you my impression or thoughts. I don't like the background being pure white.

    1) The header split into photos is good. I'm not sure I like the gears holes only above. Maybe it would be better without them at all.

    2) I like the navigation status bar below it but I don't like the thick horizontal bars in it.

    3) The main navigation area is cool and see how it could change to show the currently selected area. I like that a lot.

    4) The headings QUICK SEARCH, SLIDER PHOTOS, ORGANIZATIONS are good. But as mentioned above, something seems missing. Either color, pinstriping, shadow, something. Maybe it's just the background color.

    5) the divided sections are good

    6) The Organization Navigation is good.

    7) The table is good but again, the elements are a little boring somehow. Maybe alternating colors for rows is better and or less or no space separating each column.

    8) The footer is good

Overall I like the design. I just feel something is missing that would give it a professional and polished feel.

Slider, can you give us an idea of who is in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place? And the reason why they are in that place? I think it'll give us a good idea of what we should do (and give you a better selection) before the contest ends. Thanks.

    Hey Slider,

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions.

    http://blazendesigns.com/webdesigns/sliderphoto2.htm

I made some changes to the layout. The "gear holes" are actually supposed to be a film strip. I hope you can see that in the new design. It brings the photography aspect into the design.

Thanks and I look forward to your thoughts.
