    All,

My apologies for continuing to be less than responsive. I have been on the road all week and without connectivity most of that time. I am meeting with the client this evening to discuss the submission and will have feedback late tonight. Thanks again for your patience.

    All,

Here is the feedback from the client. First, he was surprised at the variety of the entries and asked that I share his pleasure in reviewing the submissions. At this point there are a handful of logos that he likes, but one does stand out in his mind. Although this means new ideas are welcome, the contest ends tomorrow and any new submissions will need to be entered by midnight EST tomorrow night for review with the client on Tuesday.

The general feedback for all submissions is:

    1. Complex logos do not work for him because of problems he has had in the past recreating them in other applications (e.g., logo on shirts).

    2. Although the client initially stated that he was open to other colors, it is clear at this point that black, blue, and silver are his choices.

    3. The client has mentioned that additional depth with the submissions (e.g. shadows) would add to his visual satisfaction. The shadows may need to be removed for alternative print options, but for the web would be appropriate.

Ok, that is the general feedback. Due to the length of time it has taken to get this initial feedback, I am going to provide feedback to each artist here….this feedback is direct from the client and does not represent a graphic artist’s opinion, but rather a layperson’s likes and dislikes. For instance, several of the logos that did not work for the client I personally thought were exceptional. So, please keep in mind that this is more about the client’s personal preferences than the technical and artistic aspects of the entry.

After each name, I will put the post number (for those of you who have more than one submission), the submission number (for those of you who put more than one option within a submission), the general comment numbers from above (e.g., 1 = Complex, 2 = Primary Color (e.g., provide other color options), 3 = Depth), and finally, any additional comments from the client that do not fall into the general comments. I will list all artists’ comments here and refine that list at the end.

Frontend; #2; #1; General = 1, 3; Although the complexity of the logo for other applications did not exist, I selected the 1 general feedback because the client, although liking the concept, did not feel the logo would be “obvious” to his clients and potential clients.

Shanelink; #3; #1; General 1, 2, & 3; The client felt that the first two entries would be very difficult to execute in alternative platforms, but more importantly the client felt that too many other companies utilize that type of “look and feel” to represent their companies. One of the biggest differences between the top tier and lower tiers of competitors in this space is that the top tier focuses more on just the lettering in their logos. Seems strange, but apparently in his mind he sees the lines on a chip as less professional. As for your third option, the client responded positively to that version, although he did feel that it lacked the depth he would like and the color silver.

Mbleigh; #4; #1; General 2 & 3; The feedback, although he would like to see silver and more depth, comes down to a simple client opinion. He does not like having the lettering in the logo skewed so much that it appears to affect its readability. Although this is a very subjective opinion, as with Frontend the client did not feel the logo was “obvious”.

MVA; #5; #1; General 2 & 3; The client did not like the first version (the ray of light in the middle) and the last version (all black), but responded positively to the blue and black versions. He would like to see more depth and the inclusion of silver, but otherwise thought it was a strong submission.

Cloak; #7: #1; General 1, 2, & 3; This submission, as well as Ruben@Run2’s, represented a change in the client’s opinion regarding lightning bolts in the logo. Although he liked the concept, when he saw it, it didn’t work for him.

TheGenuis; #8; #1; General 2 & 3; Although the client would like silver and a bit more depth, the client did not understand the meaning of the logo which was at the heart of his thoughts regarding this submission. Your feedback as to its meaning might help.

FrontEnd; #9; #2; General 1, 2, & 3; First, the client was intrigued by the logo and felt that there was no overlap with O2’s logo since its logo is based on the symbol for oxygen. The client was not sure how the logo would look on shirts, etc. due to the “lighting” on the blue in the O’s. He definitely would like to see a darker blue and use of black and silver together. Also, he wants the .com in the wording.

Ruben@Run2; #11; #1; General 1, 2, & 3; As stated with Cloak’s submission, the client has determined that lightning bolts are not the statement he is looking to make with the company. As for second submission, the client liked the concept, but really didn’t understand the color combination. The client also stated that he favors logos that use the words of the logo as the darker colors because it makes it easier to utilize in a multitude of environments.

Browncat: #12; #1; General 1, 2, & 3; As with Ruben@Run2’s submission, the client does not like backgrounds that are necessary to view the name of the company.

iMaze; #13; #1; General “Nothing Specific”; The first version was too “washed out” according to the client and the third version reminded him of marriage or something having to do with male/female. He liked the second version, but did state he didn’t know how the shadow would work in other alternatives. Based on that feedback an option without the shadowing on the arrow would likely be appropriate.

Creativemeasrues; #15; #1; General 1 & 2; The client liked the concept, but was concerned about uses in alternative forms and the color (no blue) which is his primary color for the logo. I had difficulty deciphering whether the client wanted to see another version of this entry….I am not sure he knew.

Browncat; #18; #2; General “Nothing Specific”; As with Shanelink’s entry, the client feels that too many other companies utilize this type of “look and feel” to represent their companies.

DanHernandez; #19; #1; General 2 & 3; Although the creativity of the logos is high, the look and feel just didn’t do it for the client.

Ruben@Run2; #20; #2; General 2 & 3; The client responded very positively to your third entry. He did state he would have liked to see more black and silver and possibly some more depth, the general reaction was positive.

Ok, so that is the feedback. Please remember that this is one person’s opinion….the customer. Let me state that overall I am very pleased with the submissions once again at DC.net. I look forward to my next contest and hopefully I will have more opportunities to provide feedback as in past contests.

So, here are the submissions that I think the client is focusing on:

Shanelink, #3, #1, Third version of the logo
MVA; #5; #1, Black and Blue logo; add .com to any new submission
Frontend, #9; #2; add .com to any new submission
Imaze; #13, #1 second version; add .com to any new submission
    Ruben@Run2; #20; #2 third version

If I were to select one that the client was favoring more than the others, I couldn’t, although I do believe that Imaze and Ruben@Run2’s submissions were most favorably received by the client. Any new submission should be received by midnight EST tomorrow night.

I will be happy to answer any questions in the forum and will consider new submission (e.g., karlosregazzoni) in the final selection process. My intention is to have the final selection completed by the end of Tuesday.

    Thanks,

    BridgeGap

I'm not exactly sure if the rules allow me to post these
revisions, but following the guidelines of your previous
competition (Health Tech Solutions) I believe it's ok.

Here are the changes you asked for, with slight variations:

Bridgegap, this is submittal #2 from me. Trying to work more towards what the client seems to want, based on your feedback. I may try to modify my first entry as well, as time permits...
