Contest_Holder: ragemedia
Company_Details: R.A.G.E. Media is a publishing and media company whose products include books and merchandise based on an idea of a 'Human Revolution.' R.A.G.E. stands for 'Rebellious Affirmation of Greater Existence' and has a spiritual and secular meaning. In brief, that doing what is right in todays world requires the attitude of a revolutionary in a struggle with the dying of the light of human reason. (Dylan Thomas' 'Do Not Go Gently' is a recurring theme.)

Comments: I am looking to update our logo, which will be used for branding on our books, websites, and merchandise and shirts. As it will be trademarked, we will need exclusive use of the design. The company name is R.A.G.E. Media, and the slogan is 'The Human Revolution'
Technically speaking, it needs to be simple enough to look good in one-color applications, especially black and white (or white on black), although more colors can be used on the design in general. After black and white, red is probably the next color to see frequent use.
Conceptually, I would like to incorporate the silhouette or line art rendering of a person raising their fist in defiance (See first sample url). Imagine someone giving a passionate revolutionary or defiant speech. However, I want to avoid focus on the fist as it's been used so much already and with the name appears too violent - so bust or full-length figure is preferred. Someone suggested that maybe the image could be incorporated into the company name, such as the 'A' being formed by their legs - not sure if that would work, but it was an idea. The font can be stencil based or brush strokes, or pitch something new. In the past we used a font that appeared hastily/passionately brushed.
I'm still unsure if I want the slogan incorporated in the logo or not. I don't want to make it a requirement but if you are able to include both variants it would help us down the road.
