Very cool idea, a couple of things to help...

Look at your shadows... The real shadows of your hand come below, but the shadows you have on the art come above. I would also try to match the blur and color of the real shadows.

I would work on making the hands shaded in proportion to the head. It looks as though the head was taken seriously and the hands were made too quickly.

As stated, very cool idea though!

I think it looks great! Very cool idea!

I also think the shadows on the figure are fine. To me it looks like He's peeling up from the top of his head and you definitely want the shadows underneath the hand. The only shadow I would consider changing is the drop on the word bubble. If you move it below it, it will make the bubble appear to be floating because it is bleeding off the page and overlapping the background.

I also wouldn't worry too much about where the arm is coming from. His chin is obviously very prominent, and positioned more in the foreground. His arm should be thin towards the face and larger as it comes forward in space- as you have it.

Again, great job for your first composition in Photoshop!

Good idea! I did so much color correcting that after awhile i guess i didnt even notice the darkness of it.
As far as the arm goes , it is a cartoon and the hands and head are exaggerated which causes the neck and shoulder to be behind the chin

yea i agree but we had to have a scanned image in the piece (which are the hands), and after trying to match the color of the white in the hands to the white in the paper on the photo i lost alot of the defining shadows

I agree with all the comments but I still want to say that for the first time that you ever used photoshop except for color correction, I think in my opinion you did an AWESOME job. You have that talent I can see that once you master Photoshop your will be a true force to reckon with in the photoshop world. Nice Work and work on the details, if you really want to be inspired check out Bert Monroy . When you see his work you will swair that it is a photo however it is digitally painted.

you might need to color correct the hands to make the transition a little smoother to the eye. If you bring down the blue in the paper with curves in photoshop it should get you close.

I really like the drawing, the mouth detail is great

This is such a great concept. Some really good suggestions here too. Where the top of the page meets the binding looks somewhat blurry. I dont know if you applied the sketch page on top of the sketch book but if thats how you did it it might be as easy as trimming the top of the page so you can see where the binding meets the paper. Very cool!
