What music inspires you to design?

    Hi all

Being a designer and a music lover I really feel a connection between the music I listen to and the designs I do.

The tone and mood of the music can guide and influence my design and mindset on how I approach my design.

I LOVE hip-hop so when a brief something organic and mellow I might choose to listen to Roots, Common, Hilltop Hoods etc, if I need something more industrial, strong I might throw on some Sean P, JMT or RA Rugged Man...

All time favourite for a creative block is 93 Til Infinity by Souls of Mischief...

Do any of you feel the same regarding music? If so let me know what you get down to!

    Ju

Love this topic. I'm always always listening to music and definitely have to have it when I'm working/designing.

    My favorites for creating are
Explosions in the Sky (esp. First Breath after Coma)
    Jack Johnson
    Ludovico Einaudi

Those are the more mellow ones.
Then for some groovy beats I can always turn to RJD2 or Beck.

    (And I'm a hip-hop lover too )

Ha, i really wanted some topic about music.
I'm not an extreme music listener, since i just listen to it when im on my way to somewhere by bus.
By the way, as i have strong boundings to extreme metal music (because im a guitarist and am willing to be a vocalist) i feel that all my work gets into an agressive, dark, gore way. I know its wrong, since you shouldnt put that kind of influence in all of your work, thus compromising the end result.

That's why i use to make music-related work. I try to keep up with myspace development, and band logos, mostly death metal logo designs, too. When it comes to these logos, you have great freedom to play with type and scratches and branches.

And i really wanted to work just with extreme metal-related work, in the future.

While designing i tend to listen to Psychedelic rock, such as Tool, Deftones, and such. It helps me concentrate and keep my flow flowin'

I think music is very important while creating art in whatever form. I usually listen to any music that comes well with the piece I'm working on or depending on my mood.

For example> When I was working on my Sherlock drawings I listened to Sherlock movie soundtrack

Classical music really helps my thoughts to stay organized regardless of what the nature of the project may be. I find music with too much distortion or irregularity creates a interruption in the clarity needed for development.

awesome thread. In ways it depends on my mood. I feel house, drum & bass, hip-hop music are mostly where my positive experiences with art lie.

I love all types of music, so it depends on my mood at the moment what I'll listen to while I design. My latest is pre- and early punk rock (New York Dolls, Ramones, etc.,) but I also like a lot of classic rock, too... and just classiscal.
