Really hard to decide, but I do have a soft spot for Matthew Carter's Bell Centenniail; this is probably biased since I did a research project on him. However, the typeface is fascinating, considering that it was created for the purpose of fast press printing on low quality paper (phonebook) at 6 pt; therefore, the design itself has 'wedges' to give way to ink bleeding.

If you guys aren't familiar with this font, you should go look it up and take a look at it blown up. Its irregularities are unique :]

There is a truly wonderful little book that you can order online for free on Hoefler & Frere-Jones' website. It's a printed collection of all their fonts. It's really a nice little book to have. You can order it here: http://www.typography.com/editions/index.php
The website says it is out of print, but I just got mine today. Enjoy !!

Hmm, lately I used Myriad a lot. I like the sleek simple design of the font. You should check it out sometime.

I guess by favorite I would go with what makes a designers job easier which I would say is Times New Roman and Helvetica. But I usually have affairs with other ones depending on the situation. I like to have the freedom of choice.

I love Goudy. Especially the "&" in bold italic.
The main reasons I love this font is the white space it has and this font can be read even at very small font size.

Myriad, Trebuchet, and Helvetica are indispensable.

Well it's really hard to say what's my favourite font.
I could say Helvetica, but it's overused. I just think Helvetica has become an easy way out for most designers. It isn't wrong though.

Also a font can easily start disappointing you. Century Gothic for example. Since someone told me the 's' in Century Gothic looks so much smaller then the other letters, it really started annoying when seeing text in C.G. (when there's an s inside). Sure you could use it to design a logo or even a baseline, since you can addept the letter 's' using the character-pannel. But I would never use Century Gothic for full text.
Ok, some typo freaks will probably manipulate this font in FontLab or any other font-editing-program ... but I rather just pick another font :]

It's interesting to see what everyone's favourite font is and I doubt there will be any ugly font named here. Each font well have a different aim: fulltext, logofont, displayfont, ...

    Font

Garamond is certainly in my top three favorite fonts.
Someone once asked me to design something with Helvetica Neue
and at first I was not too excited because when I think Helvetica I think stodgy. However the Neue Helvetica has a very nice round shape and can be contemporary or classic.

My current favorite is Scogin. Of course, next week I'm sure it'll be something different!
