I need some help!

Hi,

I am a very experienced Photoshop user and have come to this site to make money for the artwork I do, instead of designing eye-candy designs with nothing to benefit from. I have Illustrator for vectors. The only thing I don't understand is, I can export the required document's in Photoshop (.EPS, .PSD, .PNG) and in the .PSD everything is scalable like a vector and it doesn't distort. Yet in order for any of your designs to be uploaded they have to be in Illustrator? To my understanding as long as the design is scalable and doesn't distort it should be accepted? Please elaborate.

I'd also like to add that I have Vector Magic as well, which takes .PNG, .BMP, .JPG files and convert's them into vectors. I have tried using this after I designed logo's in Photoshop but it lowers the quality of the "effect's" or "layer styles" that I've added to them. Any tips? Oh and, I see contest for Web Design's. Does that mean we only give them the design or "idea" and they code it? Or do we have to code as well.

Sorry, may be wrong section, so here's some information about me. I am a 18 year old male that lives in the United States, my name is Ryan (hint's the username.) I have used Photoshop for about 5 years. I am IC3, Photoshop, and Flash certified. Working on obtaining my Dreamweaver certification, I can use Dreamweaver (I taught myself) but I do not know the "correct" way's of doing things. I am a computer junkie/geek.

Alright, I contacted support to get information and "all logo's are required to be vector's" "original format". So does anyone want to give me some tutorial links?

For those who have/are reading this I am enjoying this site a lot. I am new to Illustrator but a lot of my ideas and styles that I've used in Photoshop have transferred over. Logo's are fun to make.

Ryan, I would recommend creating logos directly in vectors - converting them from Photoshop isn't a great idea.

No, I'm not using Photoshop at all for logo's. I am strictly using Illustrator. Thanks for the reply by the way.

What do you need help on? I'm confused. It looks like you're asking how to submit vector stuff from photoshop?

Photoshop, while using vectors, is not a vector program. Sure, it's possible to create scalable stuff in photoshop, but it doesn't maintain the file structure the way a vector program does when saved as a vector .eps or .svg. - basically - it can be a complete nightmare to edit and/or use on press.

Keep in mind that effects aren't necessary for a good logo. In my opinion, they should be an afterthought when considering media format...that's me though.

I would like to add that creating these salable designs in photoshop is not fair to the client/contest holder. They are complicated and not easy to work/edit. How can you expect a client/contest holder to work complicated designs made this way. If you have illustrator then that is the program to use, if you are new to illustrator do some online tutorials for illustrator.

No, no, no. This is old, I wanted a easy way to do it since I was amazing at photoshop. I now create everything in illustrator. Vectors. I do not need help anymore, thanks for the replys though.
