    coupla ideas

    Hi all!

I have a lot of fun with the community contests and have a couple of ideas...

    1. common, every day task or object, but from an uncommon perspective. (example: a haircut - an every day thing, but drawn from the perspective of the person getting the haircut, instead of just a picture of someone cutting someone's hair; or eating - but instead of a drawing of someone eating, it could be the view from inside the mouth as the forkful of food is coming in...)

    2. more fake logo contests. Since a lot of the members participating in the community contests are not elite designers yet and are building their portfolios, practicing, and hoping to one day become an elite designer, and since from what I can tell in the short time i've been here, a majority of the paid contests are for logo design, it might be a good exercise for all of us to create more logo designs (or even postcards, business cards, corporate identity packages, etc.). I'd be interested to see the variety of ideas that are developed, as well as the critiques from others.

A big part of the fun (for me) is seeing how differently the task is interpreted from designer to designer - the community contests are a great way to do this!

When I was in college, I always enjoyed doing the different perspective exercises. I think this would be a great little contest to get everyone's creative juices flowing. And of course, I'm all for the fake logo contests, either a new concept or re-doing existing logos. It's a great way to gain experience without dealing with the pressure of an annoying client :P They both sound like great ideas!

I would like to see more fake logo design contests as well. Maybe one for a company called Soundoff Audio/Video... Some good ones could come from that. If you make it more "real", it would be taken seriously and we could see greatness.

If we make it "more real" it could be stollen. The reason the logo contest are a bit odd is because we don't want another designers work to be stolen and what if there was a company called Soundoff Audio/Video (like Soundoff Audio - Google Search ) Then if they come across DC having a logo contest for them we(DC) could be held responsible.

We want to make our logo contests as real as possible but need to be carefull at the same time.

    uhmm .... just a thought ...

arent the "non-guaranteed" logo-contest ... provide the same or even better purpose, drive and process --- than that of a "pretend" logo making contest? (since non-guaranteed-logo-contest) are open to all reg.Mems? and it is a good opportunity to actually design a logo for an actual client? ....

    watcha peeps think?

    Agree..

But some members may not feel/be ready for an actual paid contest and want to simply practice with a pretend contest. not having to worry about "getting it right".. Plus we provide a little more feedback and how to improve a design as well as other members giving them their thoughts and opinions about how to make it better..
