NICE!
Before reading this thread I was thinking about starting working on logos daily, based on "already-closed PRO DC contests" ... just for practicing and getting prepared for "real" pro contests .....
Very nice idea ...

This is a great idea... a huge challenge but definitely a beneficial one. If we were to do this and chose a different theme every month we'd become more experienced in various areas of design.I'm going to take the challenge on - I know it will benefit me in the long run. If you want to get better at something you need to put time, dedication and CONSISTENCY into it!!! Thanks for sharing this article.
Hi Brandy,
I've seen a lot of your work on here and its great. Do you think you can help me come up with some areas to focus on each month? I'm kind of coming to a block as to whether to do various types of print media (brochures, fliers, invitations, book covers, etc.) or should I go ( font enhancements, photo enhancements, vector images, etc.) Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks Meadec!
I think I would start on a smaller scale - instead of jumping into a full blown brochure or page layout, maybe practice the elements that would go into it, then at the end of the year, put together all the skills you've practiced into a brochure..
Maybe for the first month, start with type. Try different effects, play with fonts, modifying letters, practice kerning, etc... by the end of the month you'll have 30 different type treatments to refer to for inspiration later on...
Next month you could make your theme another element of design, like small, simple vector graphics or icons.
Another month could be photo manipulating - color correcting, silhouetting, transposing images together, etc.
If you plan to create something new every day, start out small and make sure you don't burn yourself out! It's a noble venture - I'm a little scared to start a project this big myself!
thanks for the compliment![]()

yess .. but unwritten rule - "don't leave the work unfinished ... never leave for tommorow", therefore you will have nice work if you designing every day or every two or three days.
Good thought. definately but no need to beat yourself up over it. The idea is "just a lil bit". Studies I have heard of on neural deveelopment have said that the brain functions at its best when dealing with new information. So, in exercising the lil grey cells you want to include the element of change, from day to day, so that they are always dealing with something fresh. Like salt on a meal, just enough to bring out the taste.
