Logo Redesign
Maybe this is because I've just read a post about logo re-designs...no, that's definitely why...
But has a logo re-design contest been done here? (I'm new)
You'd take a big brand name that is widely recognized and that you think needs a fresh look. Everyone would choose their own brand logo to remake, and the winner would be the logo that seems the most needed and relevant for that particular company. (Is that too subjective?)
I hope this is not a really overused/illegal idea. Sorry if so. I just think it sounds fun.

I think this is a cool idea, and fun. We did do this once maybe a year or so ago, for the Animal Planet television network, but haven't done it recently.
We have to be careful with using trademarked or copyrighted names, and this has been the holdup in the past... but it's a great idea. We just need to determine if this is something we are allowed to do.
Maybe someone here in the forums knows the legalities and can share?

may be this could be an opportunity to express this..

That does sound like fun. I think there are a few CHs that do ask for updated logos. The trend seems to be, sketchier looking and more abstract... What say you?
Greenpeace recently held a contest to update the BP logo. Some were sad, some were hilarious!

If you're searching for a redesign project, just look around you. Is there a business around that your eyes want to bleed whenever you see any publication from them? I began work on a local photography company's logo, business card and brochure that were in circulation. It was awful. Full CAPS through the entire 12 page brochure on disgusting paper with a kitsch artist's paint palette and camera as their logo. On principal I couldn't let this continue. After getting everything together, I approached them in a very respectful way and discussed my work and theirs. In the end, it was extremely lucrative for me. However, if the company had said "no" it would still have been good practice.
