Rules are so strict that honeyville contest had no limits on submissions. Therefore now it has >1500 entries and CH is flooded by the amount of designs :wink )

2mareingenii: That is why this rule exists
2stripe: Sometimes they don't know/care/use this option at all. But it's violation of Rules to remind the CH that he has this option

2all: we need submission limits, but if CH extends the contest submission credits should be renewed for all participants.

We do not need to add uploads when the ch extends a contest. You will never run out of entries when the ch marks your entry I want to see a revision. If the ch forgets all you have to do is send us a note, pop in live chat or post a forum thread.

There will always be exceptions and examples when we will need to add uploads for designers. For example the ch extends the contest and has eliminated all previous entries we then would have to step in and allow more entries for each designer, other than that there is no reason to give the designers more entries than the original 7 per contest.

    Hi to all of you.

I have no matching words to describe how much "7 entries rule" is bordering me.
When i work for a client, or enter a contest i usually design more than 10 designs (not including the revisions).
If i include the revisions the number can go up to 20 designs. And i don't want to think that my designs are so-so quality despite of their number.

Further more, i work on 7 other logo contest web sites simultaneously...there are no submission (entry) restrictions at all. Few of the web sites are huge with contest holder and designer members, but the quality work is also present.

I feel very handicapped because of one more thing...sometimes when the contest is running, the end of it is near, and i do not have any more submission credit, but i still came up with a design that i think might change things a lot...and i can't submit it...it's catastrophic!

Just at this moment, when i am writing this post, i find my self in that position. So frustrating!!!

I just hope that the ones that can do that, do change this rule.

    Cheers!

You will never run out of entries if the ch marks at least on entry to see a revision. If the ch forgets to mark an entry then just pop in live chat or send us a ticket we will mark it for the ch.

I think that 7 is enough as long as the CH knows that they can grant extra lives to us if they like our work!
Did you asked yourself a question? Does the CH knows aboute the 7 limit? ...noooo

what does it matter if the ch knows about the 7 entry limit? Why worry about this? just enter the contest, if the ch likes your design they will ask to see more, if not then it is eliminated. If the ch forgets to mark I want to see a revision then send a help ticket in or come to live chat. It is that simple and should not be anything to worry about.

The thing is.. this restriction it's nonsense... Every website with logo design contests that I visited and made an account don't have this kind of "rule" and believe me some of them are BIG and I mean BIG LOGO CONTEST WEBSITES... designcontest for us designers it's like a prison.. you have so many restrictions.... restrictions that doesn't allow designers to expand their work experience and doesn't allow contest holders to see the posibilities of a logo; because in a logo contest, you don't allow backgounds to be used as we really like to show the ch how the logo will look on different dark/light/colored backgrounds and believe me, he will like it too, you don't allow more then one logo per page to show the c-holders how the logo will look in different sizes or angles or logo construction.. and they will like that too, you don't allow business cards, letterheads, bilboards, cars or any other shape that can illustrate how a logo will look on it, and especially this part the c-holders will love it. All this mentioned it's called: "Logo Presentation" wich you don't allow it, like others BIG websites do. And you should allow everything I said, it's in your interest too, you will have more contests, more great designers... And want to show you a comparison: Right in this moment while I'm typing designcontest (opened in 2003) has "18 active logo contests" with the highest prize of "400$"... another website like yours (I'll not mention the name because of bad advertising) has in this moment "1005 active logo contests" with the highest prize of "1044$" and the website was opened in 2006 and they don't have any restrictions I mentioned above. I like your website and I will be glad to see it somewhere up with the big ones, but you really need to cut off all these restrictions. Oh, and you another thing.. you should really, really increase this size: 640x480 for logo submissions, of course.. if you do all I said.. wich you'll definatly not do... I wish you all a very great day.

can you please tell me why any contest holder would need to view a logo contest entry larger than 640x480? Absolutely no reason why a larger viewing size is needed. The other sites have size limits as well. If you read the guidelines at those sites you will see what those limits are.

We have no background rule because the contest holder chooses this. If the contest holder wants to see the design with a background they will choose this or ask for this. It is a very simple rule to follow.

The other sites you mention have their own way of running contests. The contest prizes are set by the contest holders not us (designcontest.com)

The 7 entry limit is something that will not change. There is absolutely no reason to increase this or lift it. You will never run out of uploads if the contest holder wants to see more work from you. The other (big site does have limits and this limit is done with the contestholder, meaning if the contest holder can choose to not see more of your work and completely eliminate you from their contest. We do not do that

Our rules and guidelines are easy to follow. I do not understand why it is so hard to follow these simple rules and guidelines........

CHs are made aware that they can grant extra lives. However, if they are asking for revisions but don't give you the submission credits, you can contact support. Easiest way is to submit a ticket or come on live chat.

    Thanks
