lol personally I think the whole fighting thing is a bit overkill, but it's an idea I suppose.

Anything on the abstract poster thought I had for an idea?

I was also thinking of another idea. Maybe this can go for next month for Thanks Giving. Having a contest called Mixed Media For Thanks Giving Contest.

Like the title suggests, all forms of media will be able to be used, illustration, flash, 2D, 3D and what not on anything Thanks Giving Based.

I think this would be a great contest also. Maybe have it start right after the Halloween one is over and last through-out the month untill thanks giving day or something? --- but also having a couple other different contests going on while this one is through out the month. This would give people who don't have all that much time to get their designs in also because I've noticed a few people have missed out on some contest because of the whole timing thing and also because a person can't work really well with a certain program such as maybe illustrator for illustrations ect...

Since it's a "mixed media" contest, everyone is good at one program or another, this will really let people shine in the area's they are best at!

Nicholas, I can't say I agree with your "mixed media" idea... while it is true that some people are more skilled in certain programs, isn't that the point of having contests, to judge someone's skill in performing a specific task? If the media is too different, then a contest can become very difficult to judge. There are situations where this can be different--the Halloween postcard, for example, allowed for many different media types but was still easy to judge because everyone had set guidelines to follow. In conclusion: I think the extent that DC already has "mixed media" contests is already enough, and allowing more variation would just be confusing.

On the other hand, I see your point about some people having no contest to participate in because they don't know the media that is to be used. For this reason, I think that holding multiple contests at the same time would be a great idea, and would encourage more participation from DC users.

Thanks takethetrain - I actually didn't really think about how much harder it would be to judge, good point though!

I agree with the multiple contests - at least 2 at a time anyways and like you, I also believe it will lead to more participation from DC users. Maybe even get some different winners once in a while lol!

It's been a long time since I suggested something.
What about a contest to design a poster about the Global Warming, Climate Changing or Energy Saving? Since all this issues have been on the media in the last times.
Maybe we can send the winner poster to Greenpeace or a group like that.
I don't know if somebody has made a similar proposal because I haven't had the time to check all the posts.

The Sins one was really good! There was a idea I think for an Abstract art contest before - I think that would be really cool to have for a contest. Maybe gather alot more peoples attention too. 3D Abstract to be more clear!

Do you folks (or would you ever consider) having old-school Photoshop contests which start from an original base image? I routinely participate in them on Fark.com, and it's always a good time, good simple practice. Do you folks do that sort of thing around here?
