I was thinking of starting a contest with the suggestion of the movie DVD jacket. Do you have any particular favorites or an imaginary movie you would like to design one for?

I think it would be more fun to design an original (imaginary) DVD jacket. But I hope this is not up to me, I would like to do what the majority of DCers would like to do. If you need photos, I can take some this weekend with my friends, movie-esque.

I don't have a contest to suggest, but when posting the contest, could you include the END date rather than the start date in the subject line? That would be more useful, I think.

Hello administrators, hello comunity.
Lot of of has got a personal web page and a studio, or even a corporate web page.
What we do here is great and could really help us getting more customers.
Lot of us after working hard, get awared and win prizes.
We should expose our awards, our medals in our webpages or studios
So im proposing a contest to design the following:

- Design Contest Logo-Corporate Identity Award
- Design Contest Illustration Award
- Design Contest Web Site Template Award
- Design Contest Flash Award
- Design Contest Comunity Award
- Design Contest Non Profit Award

Did i forget something ?

I was thinking about some cute medals for the web and some stickers to post in our studios.
If this works were realized already, please informe me.

Are you talking about establishing web awards of some sort? There are already so many out there -- they don't mean much. But, I suppose, if there were a way to keep them meaningful. If people put them on their websites, that would certainly help market DC, so I say, "Good idea."

About the DVD Jacket contest -- that sounds interesting. We'd just need the name of the (fictitious) movie and a synopsis and off we go!

I REALLY think we need to advertise designcontest.net a lot more... I found that after a few contests finish, theres a time when nothing goes on here...

What we could do is ask everyone to design banners for ads etc to be used to advertise on other websites ... and then maybe we could award the winners like sushi mentioned earlier...

About banners, we should try to exchange some with design releated webpages, may take a long time but should work.

Sushi, are you saying we should have some kind of small graphic to indicate that a particular design was a winner on Design Contest, with a link back to DC.net?

So, for example, if I submit a design for a logo contest that is chosen as the winner by the client, then when I post the design to our online portfolio, there could be a graphic that indicates the design was a product of a Design Contest, and that graphic would link back to DC.net.

Participation would have to be voluntary, and I'm not sure how many would put the link up, since we'd be inviting potential clients to force us to compete with the other designers at DC.net, rather than trying to grab their business once they were on our own site, but could be worth a try.

What about doing a contest that involves type treatment. Have everyone submit a 500px by 500px (size can vary) picture of how they would treat a certian font.

Have you guys ever had a 3D design contest here?.............anyway that was my suggestion, you/we could use software like:
Truespace
3D Studio Max
Maya
and any other 3d programme available.
What do you think?

You are only allowed to use the 4 letters L O G O.

Colours, fonts, typography are completely open to interpretation, but icons and illustrations are not allowed. Only representations of the letters can be used.
