Affordable? Good? hmmm...
There's a good one from http://proximasoftware.com/ for $35. You can create your own collections, etc.
Then a litte bit more pricey is "Suitcase" from www.extensis.com. It's 100 bucks, but if you are a student it's only $29 from www.academicsuperstore.com. It also let you create collections.
Then there are various other shareware ones, that you can check out from www.tucows.com or www.download.com by searching on "Font Manager"
That first one looks good, but I just went to Download.com and got a nice free one. Maybe I will get the good one later.
Thanks for the links,
Casper
I've used suitcase at my friends house, it works great! The only thing is the price tag, so I didn't buy it for myself, so I used download.com aswell. But since my font collection increasing rapidly, I think it might be a better idea to get a 'proper' manager.
That "Suitcase" looks like some serious software!! I think I will stay away from something like that for now!!![]()

Yes very 'serious software' , but you'll get used to it in no time!
Actually the one from proximasoftware (that I listed first) is more complex and has much more feature than Suitcase.
For TrueType, try this old (but gold) free program called FontThing:

hi casperamy,
I was browsing around the forums and saw this....
and just thought I could share the one I use...
that is if you're still looking for a font viewer..
I'm kinda new here... sorry if this is kinda late already..![]()
nways.... you can find more details about it here :
http://www.ampsoft.net/utilities/FontViewer.php
I've been using this free font viewer/installer for quite some time now...
and I have to say that it's really been a good tool to have...
basically what I like about it is... that its a small file... straight to the point,
nice features like installing fonts temporarily and more... read em at their site
it'll explain it better than I would...![]()
oh and did I mention its free!?![]()
g'luck! I hope that's what you're lookin' for and I hope it'll work for you...
I think its one of those tools/utilitites a GD should always have...![]()
I have a problem. I want a font browser to preview fonts, but every software description I read says it previews the INSTALLED fonts! I have 700 MB of fonts in a separate disk and there's no way I'm going to install all those on my system! It would get too slow (the more fonts you install, the slower your system gets).
I want an app to select a font directory and preview the fonts in that directory...![]()
Anyone?

Thanks for all of the responses. I tried a couple of them but ended up with "The Font Thing". It is just what I needed.
Thanks again,
